you have to tackle this problem in reverse, so to speak.
First off, find out the capabilities of the built-in dvd player function in your minivan.
What will it support?
DVD-R?
DVD-RW?
DVD+R?
DVD+RW?
You will probably have difficulty getting that information (think of the average car-dealership guy, great at sales-talk, but when it comes to TECHNICAL, well joe-sixpack comes to mind).
So, to maximise your chances, assume DVD-R (it IS the most widely compatible, after all).
Burning software: use the most stable and compliant software you can get (people here will recommend NERO, RecordNow Max etc. etc. - personally I use Prassi PrimoDVD, but there may be a support issue with your LiteOn, as prassi is old s/w).
Burning Speed: burn and verify at HALF the speed of the SLOWEST part (e.g. 4 x drive and 4 x media equals 2 x burning: 4 x drive and 2 x media equals 1 x burning).
Recordable Media: only use good quality stuff (at least until you have got the problem sorted, THEN you can experiment with the cheapo no-name media).
Labels and/or writing on top surface of the media: DON'T, once you have the problem sorted then experiment if you wish.
Ripping, Editing, Compressing & Authoring: there are a number of programs about that will take care of this to a greater or lesser extent: but if you want to improve your chances of solving this problem, you will have to use the tools approach.
Rip: DVDDecrypter
Edit/Authoring: IFOEdit
Compression: DVD2One
After you have solved the problem, experiment with some of the all-in-one kind of programs.
Bare in mind the following: the player in your minivan is NOT PC based, it is supplied & fitted by a Vehicle Manufacturer who is interested in supplying kit that is JUST GOOD ENOUGH, at the LOWEST COST TO THEM, at the HIGHEST POSSIBLE PROFIT - so don't expect it to be particularly flexible as to formats or media support.
Be prepared to waste a number of disks and lots of time solving this problem.
It will be frustrating, you will curse the whole thing at times.
You may even have to change your burner to achieve a reliable solution.
Depends on how determined you are to do what you want.
