My PSP (slim) has firmware 3.72. Can I upgrade/downgrade to custom firmware? I also heard of this thing called a Pandora battery. Is that a special battery or something and do I need it for custom firmware?

yes you need a pandora battery. it is a battery that puts your psp into service mode. there is no other way to put cfw on your psp. if you need a guide to look at, try here. you will need to either have to know someone with a cfw psp to make the battery for you, or you can buy a datel tool ( a pre-pandoraized battery) or you can hard mod one yourself if you have a extra battery.

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.

What about older versions? Is there no way to use cfw even with older firmware?

Any firmware, any model can have CFW put on it.

if you have a slim, then you can't really put older firmware on it, unless you use dax's timemachine. that however, is a whole other can of worms to open once you have cfw. pandora will work with any firmware.

It all depends on the version of the FW on how easy it is to do.
Two ways of doing it Include using Corrupted game files and loading in the right version of the game (GTA:LC and Lumies)
There is the Tiff exploit that worked till like 2.82
But right now Pandora & MMS works 100% Only the newest Slims (V2 Mother board) prevent the creation of a Pandora Battery

The Slim dose not easily do programs that use 1.5 kernel. and I think can only go back to like 3.71 But there seems to be only minor reasons to not use the most up to date Custom firmware.
