i just got a brand new xbox 360 ,my friend modded it with the latest iextreme firmware,the drive is a samsung,it plays all my old back ups fine ,but i got some purple pack verbatim that say made in singapore 8x,burned at 4x =open tray...got some memorex 2x burned at 2x=open tray
im using clonecd to burn,any ideas,pleaseeeee help

try imgburn. make sure you set the booktype to DVD-ROM

i put the isos in the muttuler thinky and it says compatiable with iextreme

Any of the ripping programs can tell you if it's stealth. If you don't have any, I'd suggest downloading XDVD Mulleter. It's free, small, and user friendly. Then you can use it to check the iso and see if it's iXtreme compatable.
With the iXtreme firmware, if your backup isn't 100% stealth, it won't let your 360 play the disc. You'll just get the "Open Tray" message.

they both passed the stealth test
im using iextreme 1.4 for samsung,could it be a firmware problem?

Nope, can't be a firmware problem if your other backups are working. So that just leaves it being a burn or media problem.

I think the laser is probably just as much an issue as your burner is. Do you know anyone else with a modded 360? If so you could test these recent burns on another machine and see what's really going on. I've experienced the exact things 2 on other people's 360s and a new laser took care of the problem each time.

ouch..i hope its not the laser i got the xbox 5 days ago,i hope its a media problem,i never had success with the memorex disks,but verbatims were always good money

The thing is you have some MIS Verbatims and they aren't working right? That's about as good as you can get for DL DVD+Rs.

I'm half way through one of the new "purple" packs, and have had zero playback issues on 4 different consoles.
I would have suggested a possible laser issue, but you said your other backups are working fine.
Have you tried burning the game at 2.4x on the Verbatim? Also, when's the last time you updated the firmware for your burner?

i tried to burn at 2x but it always burns at 4x(8x verbatium)the drive is a sony dru 830a
i dont think i ever updated my firmware burner lol

You have a fairly new burner, so I don't think a firmware update will solve your problem. Although, it is always good to keep your fw up to date.
What game is it and did you make the backup or download it?

You probably don' want to hear it, but I'll willing to be good money it's your laser. It's a Samsung drive so it has to be kind of old. They haven't made those in at least a year. I'm sure with a new laser you wouldn't be having any problems.
