Please help my: Dirty disk error

I got lost the other day, i copied it to disk then put it in the xbox, i ended up geting the dreaded dirty disk message, i then did a copy of mass effect, that worked fine. I have also had the same problem with DMC4, why is this.

I have an hitachi drive with old firmware on it, do i have to upgrade my firmware and the disks will work?

Please somebody help me

could be laser going bad, updating the FW wouldnt hurt. also, what brand of discs are you using?

im using verbatims 2.4x dl etc. and the laser works fine with all the other games but the newer ones it is having a problem with, so could old FW be causing this problem?

I wouldn't think your fw would make any difference,But this might sound stupid but maybe yout burner is getting tired and worn,I know my old burner started to make Crappy burns from being used so often never thought anything about it till I bought a new one And never had a problem with error's like that again.But then my laser died alittle while later,But thats a diff story.
