I am experiencing a similar problem when encoding an AVI file captured using the HUFFYUV codec. The file size is 36GB. Do you think TMPGEnc Plus cannot handle this codec or file size?
That would explain it then. I was using YUV as I understand it to be the best, better than RGB. Can you reccomend the best or alternative codec available that would work with TMPGEnc? What I I did a straight AVI capture (uncompressed)? Would the quality be as good if not better that HUFFYUV? I would think yes with it eating up a great deal off HDD space.
An uncompressed capture would indeed eat up hard-drive space, but it is temporary, as once encoded to MPEG (at a satifactory quality) the LARGE AVI can be deleted.

I just wanted to update this post. I tried to encode the same AVI file (huffyuv codec) and noticed that although TMPGEnc appears to be "not responding" it is simply crawling along. It took just over 2 hours for it to finish "Judging Field Order" on 2hr AVI file. Encoding at 2 pass vbr ~bitrate 5000kbps with 384kbps audio took 7 hours. Not bad I supposed but I would have though with my machine I would have seen better performance. Any suggestions? I've stopped all non essntial services running in WinXp and ran a defrag on the HDD.
