So I was very pretty excited to get a copy of MLB 2k8, up until the black screen it gave me.
I've got a ntscwii, and I downloaded an ntsc MLB 2k8. It wanted to run an update, so I did a quick scan of the net to find a danger, finding none I ran the update... no problems.
Then the system reboots, and I launch the game...
Black Screen: a something device has been detected (I forget the exact text as I shut my wii off immediately.)
I panicked and threw in the first game I could find that I knew worked... luckily it still does. So no permanent damage, but it appears that Nintendo is blocking us from new games?
Sounds like error 001: unauthorized device detected. It could be very bad if they start detecting wiikeys.
That said I dont think thats happening. When playing SMG I did very rarely get error 001. I just restarted it though and went along playing again. That was VERY rarely though. My girlfriend and I played SMG every day for about a month and only saw the error twice. Seemed like a random glitch.
Besides, if they did come out with a way to block consoles from playing new games I think they'd roll it out on a big title game. Probably SSBB or the upcoming mario cart.
Qsyph, can you try MLB 2k8 again and see if it works this time? I dont think theres any chance of hurting anything.
I tried a few more times and the error is not coming back. Strange, thanks for all the responses. I have to admit I panicked a little bit there, not something you want to see the first time you run something new to the market.
I'm having a problem with 2k8. Everything loads up but when it tells me to press A to start the game, the screen with the two teams shows up, the music continues, and then stops and it shows the eject the disc screen.
I cant get this game to work always give me error 001: unauthorized device detected. I've tried several times and same thing. All my other games work fine no problem. I have 3.2U and 1.9g.. Any idea's
