Using a pal Wii on NTSC plasma

I have brought my pal Wii across to the US and purchased a samsung plasma in the states. When I plug my Wii in the picture is fuzzy and black and white.

Does anyone know how to convert the Wii output to NTSC format for my TV?

Some moron at best buy told me a converter would cost over $2000. Surely this is not right.

Try setting the video setting in the Wii settings to 60mhz.
