i ve been downloading iso files over the net, and i dont know what it is alot of them dont work.

Was just wondering if there was a way to verify them even after waiting 4 days to download a iso file.

Usually downloading from torrent places. Some work most dont. And i only download the ones that say USA NTSC.

Just cos some work and some don't it's not necessarily anything to do with the iso. It might have more to do with the media, what you use to burn the game and what speed etc.

use the same media all the time verbatim DVD-R and always burn at 2.4x just to be safe.

Maybe like u said its just the torrents or the files some people have time to fool around and make people download fake files.

I burn verbatim @ 4x. I had one game kept locking at that speed so I burned it @ 2x. It was worse so I burned it at 8x and it was fine... so slower speed isn't necessarily better.

I thought your problem was that some didn't work though - or are you assuming that because some work that all should work at that speed?

no they work my problem is downloading them from torrent websites. Sometimes i wait 4 days after downloading they burn and complete just when i try to play they dont work.

I figured sometimes their region games but most of the time i download USA NTSC torrents. I guess their just not true files.

thats why i was wondering if their was a way to verify before i actually burn it and if it could tell if it was a region game

You said some work and most don't but in my experience it's unlikely so many would be mislabelled with the wrong region or be fake unless you found the worst torrent site in the world. I haven't had any labelled wrong region that I'm aware of as they all work as they are supposed to - I do have some out of region as well and as it happens they seem to work ok also (wiikey).

Personally I'd be pretty confident about using links from there. I wouldn't anticipate the degree of problems you are having. If you are grabbing NTSC releases from there I would doubt you'd get mostly fakes or mislabelled stuff - The vast majority would be fine. Yeah you do get the odd release that's crap but they usually come when a game is rare for example or not even released or ripped.

Does your chip need updating? - I know the argon can be updated but that's all I know.

Fine... well all I can say is there is no way to verify whether or not you have an out of region game or even a fake unless you try it in another chipped machine. You don't have to try with different speeds - you can assume that 2.4 is the optimal speed for burning disks but you can't eliminate other speeds until you try. Generally we all assume that slow should be better but it's down to a combination of factors, two of those being the burner and the media, and neither being definitely a factor alone.

See this assumes that the argon comes perfect and with no need to correct any problems that might not have come to light in initial production or for the future and in that case why even have an updatable chip? LOL Have you never heard of bugs? Anyway GL on finding your solution. ;)

juniR offered a very viable solution for you to try and you shot him down. Now listen, if its not working now, why not give it a shot. I use nothing but TDK media and if I burn at 2.4x then it doesn't work. I usually burn at 4x but on some games that won't work I've tried slower speeds. If what you're trying doesn't work then try something new. It's not rocket science.
