10 years ago we used these disks to play imports.. I used the AR mega cheats disk to play US and Jap disks on an unmodded psx with an RGB cable.. I believe they will also play copies of certain games. Lots depends on the TOC file on the game.
Don't think I ever bothered to make backups because at the time I was working for a media company and we got pre-release games for review all the time.

Oh snap!Yesterday i opened up my fat ps2 and put in my ar max evo disc then when the appeared "ps2 disc" i took out ar max and put in my back up ps1 game, but it didn't work(and when i took out the ar max the ps2 started to make some kind of freaky noise).I haw heard that on ps2 slim you need to cover some kind of things to make it work!Is there's any way to do that on ps2 fat couz i haw a problem finding psx disc for the independence exploit!

Thats too bad you can't find a PS1 game to work with the exploit for you V9 Sleepy_92
Cause with your version 9,if you got the uLaunch4.12 to work on the exploit you could do the following.
* launch Ule
* set "disc control ON" in the settings
* let uLaunchElf STOP the your triggerdisc in the drive
* use a slide tool or fliptop for swapping your triggerdisc for
the backup
* go to "filebrowser=>MISC=>PS2Browser"
* You'll be redirected to the standard PS2 browser in which you'll
see the "PSx cd" icon.
* Select it, play your backup!

I don't think thats the problem then.
Did you follow the exploit tutorial I gave you.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/16/291684#3840779
What problem are you having exactly with it? It won't boot up or what?
What PS1 original game did you try?
If you already installed the exploit, did you check your mc in the ps2 browser to make sure the files are there in the folder BADATA-SYSTEM

I got a psx game from a friend (the game wasn't scratched too much)but when i put it in my ps2 the same red screen come up!I'm starting to give up!I tried to adjust lens again but no success!Isn't theres any other way to do exploit?Maybe i can download ar max with media player, burn it to disc and then put in my real ar max evo and after it boots ps2 logo swap it for the back up?And what about adjusting pots would that help and even if it help i heard that it shorts up life of ps2 laser. And i dont even understand what i have to do.
I'v done a little research in google and this is what i found out "The two rails on which the lens move must be very slippery - which can be lubricated with cooking or motor oil." as i opened my ps2 the two lens wasn't slippery.Could this be my problem. And is it's safe to put on it cooking oil?

Try cleaning the scratched disc

That won't work cause it can't read backups

Try adjusting the white cog and laser skew adjustment first before even attempting the pot adjustment.
You should only do a POT adjustment if you are getting DISC Read Errors in the PS2, or it can only read DVD and not CD.
The guide below explains it more.
And if you do attempt the POT adjustment you need a voltmeter to read the ohms on it.
Here is a repair guide that explains it better.

Its a white silicon grease that should be used.

Yes that is correct it needs to be done when changing the lens, so just do the POT adjustment first and see if it helps.
Just remember to mark it first, then adjust it and check if the disk works.
But just a note, if you are not getting any Disk Read Errors on any other CD or DVD disks, then I wouldn't even do it.
If its just the Red Screen saying "Not a PS2 Format Disk", then its just having problems with that disk. Either your lens is dirty, or the disk is.

Yes I had mentioned that before, that you will need to get an English PS1 game to try. Good Luck with it and hope you find one to try.

your welcome. Hey I have just assumed your PS2 is a NTSC PS2. Is that right. If so then yes you need a NTSC PS1 disc to make it work.

Cash Converters are clearing ps1 games at £1.. any old game will do for this job. If I was you I would try to find Crazy Taxi.. it does exist and has the largest TOC file seen so far as I know.

Is there any online places you can buy PS1 games from. They are usually pretty cheap now.
Also you have checked your PS2 memory card to make sure the exploit installed. YOu would have the BEDATA-SYSTEM folder there and inside it should have your BOOT.ELF , title.db and whatever elfs you installed to it.

There isn't any. I had thought you had said you tried it back in one of your other posts is why I mentioned it.
