Hi everyone,
my friend and I just downgraded his 3.80 OFW PSP Phat to 3.71 M33-2 with the help of my 3.90 M33-2 slim, and he upgraded to 3.90 M33. We're wondering if we should install the 1.50 kernal or not, since we don't really know what it does. Could anyone explain this?

P.S. Should we upgrade to 3.90 M33-2 or just keep it?

Well firstly you should upgrade to 3.90 m33-2 as it has important bugfixes. Secondly the 1.50 kernel is used for running homebrew (applications and games created by PSP users). if you want to run homebrew you should install it. please note it is only for the PSP Phats not slims :)

If he plans on running any homebrew software he should install the 1.50 kernel. Without it he won't be able to run any emulators or pretty much any homebrew software.

Oh so that's what the 1.50 kernal does?

His psp locked up with a red screen of death during the homebrewing process, and we unbricked it, thinking that the 1.50 caused the psp to lock up. Thanks for the reply! I'll be sure to tell him that, since he's big on homebrew apps.
