I have a first generation Wii console and installed genuine WiiKey with 1.9g update and I have ran 1.3 Setup to set drive speed and region override. (now that is out of the way!)

I have played backed up versions of many games using rawdump and imgburn as well as playing many rentals (originals)... However I have come across a game that stumps me "Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol Encore" (I am booting original disk)

First of all it is the first game I have seen with a warning on the case that states a technical modification will render it unplayable, second of all the Wii gives me no error it just spins and spins to no success.

I can't imagine that this one single game has stopped the modding scene for Wii owners, I also can't see myself buying a second Wii console to play this game (which my wife has already asked me to do)

Please help if you can, I am fairly experienced at this so if you are guessing at an answer I most likely have tried it if your answer is educated - tried - tested - true PLEASE RESPOND!!!

Thank-You in advance!!

try the 70% corruption trick; it'll disable the wiikey, but no permanent damage. you corrupt the wiikey by running the 1.9b update and pulling the plug when the flashing reaches 70%.

wait a few minutes before plugging back the power cord. then try the karaoke revolution disc again.

That sounds brutal!!
Not that I don't trust you but I couldn't see myself doing that :)
Mainly because I am not too good with a soldering iron and wouldn't want to have to replace the wiikey if it did do any permanent damage.

Anyways thanks for everyones interest, But I did find the solution to my problem!

It was a stupid mistake on my part (that could have been done by anyone) and I wish not to share...

However if anyone else makes the same mistake and finds themselves stuck in this situation I will gladly help them out, if they find their way to this thread!

Bye for now and thanks again!

Everyone makes mistakes and it would be helpful if you posted what had happened so others don't make the same mistake. Telling them to PM you if they have this issue is not going to help much and is a stupid way of going about it. Would be better to have the information first so the problem doesn't happen in the first place.

So you really should be helpful and post what had happened and swallow your ride for others. believe me I have done some stupid things myself (Not saying what you did was stupid). Just as everyone on this site probably has.

Ok then, sorry if I was being selfish before helpful!!

Anyways what I had done (assumed) was put the KRAI disc in my wii and waited for the disc to load as usual however the game disc icon on the home screen just kept spinning as if it was trying to load to no prevail.

I assumed it was not going to co-operate with my wiikey because of the unique warning that I mentioned earlier that was on the case... anywho I borrowed a Wii console from a friend and tried loading it in his machine, to my surprise the same result...

Long story short the game contains an update (much like the games Boogie and High School Musical) and in order to play the game you MUST install it and to do so you have to use your Wiimote and click on the spinning disc icon in the home menu and then you will be prompted to install the update then the game will load and play. NO PROBLEMS!!

So I guess for anyone like me who has never installed an update on their Wii this could cause issues as well!!

This also can assure anyone that reads the CAUTION on the case of the game that Wiikey runs the game fine and is un-effected!!

Hope I helped someone!

have you tried the 1.9s wiikey update? It fixes the problem with playing original of SSBB and it sounds a lot like the same type of problem. Give it a shot and report back.

Sounds like you are a candidate for a Wiikey power switch.

I doubt that - that in no way helps anyone that's having problems with the game.
Try posting something that will actually help or don't post at all.

I keep feeling like people aren't REALLY reading the posts I made in this thread, I indicated that I had an issue, then I retracted said statement and explained what I had done and how to avoid it.

Therefor this game ("Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol") can be added to the list with "Boogie" and "High School Musical" as WIIKEY SAFE!!

All these movies! and not a single use for any of them!
