I am unable to locate a recovery menu to alter my PSP settings. I have been told to reboot the system and hold the right button to access but all I get is the normal menu. Is there some other software I need to download or is there something I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
M

Only a hacked firmware can have recovery menu. M33 is one of the hacked firmwares that everyone uses.
If you have a hacked firmware it should run from the recovery folder.
msO:\PSP\GAME\RECOVERY\EBOOT.PBP
I think its like that. If you don't have a recovery folder, make it and then try it again. After that make sure you run say 'Run the recovery menu from msO:\PSP\GAME\RECOVERY\EBOOT.PBP'.

Lol,
That explains that. Now I can try to get the feeling back in my thumb from holding that button down. Do you know where I can find the firmware mod?

Original PSP: From 1.50, download the 3.52 M33.
PSP 3.52 M33 Installation
1 - If you are under official 1.50 PSP firmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from "1.50only/" of this download to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME/" and use it.
2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition/M33, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE)
3 - Download official 3.52 eboot, rename it to 352.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation.
7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
8 - Enjoy your 3.52 M33 ;)
If you have higher firmware then use pandora battery and magic memory stick.
==================
Slim PSP: From 3.60 upgrade to 3.71 M33 using Despertar del cementerio. If it doesn't run then use the pandora battery and magic memory stick to do a direct upgrade to 3.71 M33.

Despertar del cementerio V3: Sorry, Link doesn't work anymore. Go to www.dark-alex.org and find it.

It's a fat psp (one of the old ones). It looks like the present problem is finding a way to revert it from 3.90 to 1.5.
One dilemma after another.

Yeah so if you downgrade it with this guide : Universal Unbricker V3
You will get to 1.50. Then use the method that was on my last post. The original PSP method.

Sorry for taking so long. I had to go somewhere.
Anyway, the guide should be clear enough. Hope you enjoy your M33 once you installed it ;)
EDIT: If you have any problems post it here and I'll look through them tomorrow. For now, I have to go.

Still no luck. I've downloaded it from three different sources but it keeps telling me I don't have permission to access the file (The start file).
Oh, well, better luck next time.
Have a nice evening and thanks for the help,

in order for you to create a Pandora to downgrade your psp needs to have custom firmware (hacked) so of course it will say you cant because its only supported on a cfw psp (custom firmware)
more questions?
post back!

No, I must have misspoken. I downloaded the easy installer program. Inside the easy installer program is a start file. From the info I read I am supposed to start that inside the pc, not in the psp.
Anyway, when I click the start file it says I do not have access to that drive or that file, that I don't have permission to access it. I've tried downloading it from three sources, tried switching between three different drives. I can access other files on the drives but not that start file.

You cannot use windows Vista to access to Start.exe. You must find XP. So if you wanna try putting it into any USB and go to the internet cafe, school or any place where they have XP computers. Then bring your PSP memory stick with you and use it there.
Otherwise you'll have to just buy a magic memory stick. This is risky as they can give you fake ones.
If you still encounter any problems don't hesitate to ask.

Hm......I am using Xp, Home edition I think. Never had Vista and from what I have read I never will, I'll go Linux first.
Guess I'll wait and see if a hack shows up online for 3.90, or maybe I can pandora it, but if I need that file to do it then it's a no go.
Thanks again,

You got the file in as a RAR file right? You need any RAR Archievers to Extract the files. Make sure you have extracted every single file in RAR to make it work. All in the same folder.
Here is what you gotta do.

It should look like this.
Then when it comes up follow the guide.

Yep, that's what it looked like. I didn't unzip the rest of the files in the Easy installer folder, maybe everything needs to be unzipped. That didn't really make sense to me, but I can give it a try.
When I click on the start.exe file I get:
Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item.

Yes It explains it all. All the files must be extracted into the EasyIntaller folder to get the CMD working. Extract the missing files into the EasyInstaller folder and it should work ;). Follow the instructions on the START carefully.
Good luck :)

The only files I have left to unzip are the files that a "rar"ed in the easy installer folder. I should unzip them?

No, you must have the RAR files included in the folder as well. You must not unzip them. They will automatically be unzipped by the START.EXE
