From time to time (specially for last 2-3 out of 5 games) have been getting following error message, I'me sure many of you have seen
this before.
"A read error has occurred in the file system data area. If this data cannot be recovered or you choose to zero fill this section it will result in a incomplete backup
Partion Offset LBA: 1783936
Overall Offset LBA: 1913760
On some games it will stop at 25-30% & some at 50-50%
Have tried XBC 2.5, 2,6 & 2.7 & same issue on all versions.
Is it possible that some kind of code is being put on games so it will make it hard to read?
What could be the cause of this read error message which we see on some games? All I'm reading is to check for finger prints/scratches but I think it's more than that.
Thank you,

I've made like 150 backups and notice if it's a scratch you get your error. It's not something put into the game or anything for sure. Does it do it on all your games or just that one?

It did on 2 games last night, Kane & Lynch + EA sports NBA08 plus few others in the past.
I would say I've seen this read error perhaps 10 times out of 50 backup over a year period.
Maybe couple of times it worked when I tried to clean disk but majority of the time when I get this kind of disk read error it will just keep coming back at very same spot while reading.
Could it be the Samsung SHD-162C drive itself? perhap needs to be updated to V1.0?
Also another question: On certain successful backups 360 will stop reading disk / error message clean disk, unreadable, etc.... after
certain amount of playing time, what is the cause of this.
FYI) I've only been using Verbatim DL

That happens every now and then to me what you need to do is wash the game and try at a lower read speed

To be truthful i just run it under the sink and wash it off with a towel then throw it back in there and try again
But sometimes the game is to messed up or scratched to fix it with a cleaning and XBC wont be able to read it. Happend with crackdown for me

Tks, I'll trying washing & see what happens.
So it's not likely that problem is with Samsung drive or XBC but the disk itself.
How is it that the very same disk can be played without any issues on 360 but not when trying to read it.
Doesn't 360 do same, read data on disk?

Im not a computer tec but if i had to guess i would say because the 360 is reading the whole dvd and skipping over the little errors as to where the samsung is trying to copy everyfile to make that one iso. So it just cant skip it. But no man 9.99 out of 10 its the cd

I use to get the same error. Not sure why i got it though. It worked perfect every time and then i reformated the PC. After that i got it a lot. But once i reinstalled all of my programs back on, did all my Windows updates and such it started working flawless again.
You may just want to give Schtrom a try instead and see if it works. You may have a conflict either withg XBC or your DVD-Rom drive. Mine was a conflict somewhere with the PC.

How do I use Schtrom, I never used it.
Is there some walkthrough or guide on how to use this.
Thank you,
