I know you've seen this before, but it's new for me, so please bear with the nuubie :)

I have a 1-month old Slim PSP (PSP-2001) with the 3.90 Firmware. And I was wondering about playing some downloaded games on it (especially FFVII) without messing the PSP up much. The last thing I wanted to do is to screw around with the firmware and ending up bricking the thing.

If 3.90 can play such a game, good, all I need to do is download it and copy it into the right directory, but if there's some additional trick that needed to be done, that's where I'm worried about.

I really want to pull this off without doing any damage to my beloved device, and any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This should be the psp thread, not ps2.

You cannot run downloaded games with the official firmware. You will have to mess around with the FW, get custom FW or downgrade.
