I have sat here and read for hours, everybody is saying that SMG Super Mario Galaxy discs updates your wii to 3.1. I posted a question prior to this which got stomped on...

My legal copy of SMG only updates to 3.0u please explain the descrepency.. Do I need to be online... I have read hundreds of posts and can not explain the phenomenom that is happening in my living room.

as far as i know, SMG does update to 3.0 only. the best way to stay updated is to update via internet. you will always download the correct region update.

Thank you for your response, with everything I have read I have determined there is more than simply installing the chip. I wonder what percentage of people end up bricking their wiis.

bricking your wii can be easily avoided; always have the latest firmware update, and always use games from your region.
