Two weeks ago I got a refurb back from the Texas repair site and it had the regular warranty sticker on it. This morning (3/14/08) my buddy called and said he just got his back from MS and it had a new type of warranty sticker on it. I told him quite awhile ago I read about someone in the UK getting one of those stickers, but haven't heard of anything since. I then told him I'd give him a call back because I was waiting on another refurb to show up any minute now and I'd see if it had a different sticker.
Sure enough, it does. I'm in PA. U.S.

huh, wonder if that one is more tamper proof then the old style which people figured out how to remove easily?

LOL, nice. Guess they just ran out of pretty silver one's then.
That is unless there is something in that little red box that can not be seen with the naked eye, that they can see with something they have. Like super secret squirl stuff.

I thought the same thing. Maybe something which is affected when heat is applied. But I removed it anyway, and nothing happened. I held it up under a strong light and couldn't see anything.
Those 3 little black lines going across the top in the pic is actually "Microsoft" printed on a thread. A thread like what you'd pull to open small envelopes, or the plastic wrap on a cigarette pack. Know what I mean?
Maybe it's a new sticker to fight the counterfit ones that have been popping up on the web for sale.

Could be. I was thinking more something that would show up under a UV light or something like that. No way to really tell though. Now here will come the rash of questions on how people remove those, LOL

It looks like it might have a bar code in it so they can scan it to see what information comes up on the console.I'm looking at that light white square on the bottom corner of the sticker.Hey bhetrick did you notice anything different when you pulled it off. They could have a bar code on it,but when pulled off the bar code fades or something like that.I don't know I'm gonna stop talking, because that would suck if they did do something like that.I know the PS2 warranty sticker would disappear if you pulled it off.

What's the square thing on the sticker. It looks like it's under the sticker.
More tamper proof?

It's just a plain, pink square.

So this sticker can also be removed with the hairdryer method? How long do I have to aim my hairdryer on it?
And doesn't the color changes of the sticker(security)? Or it shrimps? If no:
So it's safe to remove it? Just like the old ones?
Thanks!

I've seen 2 refurbs come with this sticker and both had BenQ drives as well. It was easy to not break. Just pop the case locks and blow a hair dryer on it for a few seconds. You don't even have to take it off. Just opening the taps loosens it and you can continue to take apart the 360 without taking off the sticker or it messing up.

Can you make a video? I don't know what you mean.. :(
Can you just remove the sticker? Or will it only be possible on your way?

You can run a dryer over it and then slowy remove like the other sticker. He was just saying that if you didnt wana mess with it you would just lift out the system without opening the case completely. Id just love to figure out why the change

Thanks man. I don't understand if they supposedly fix these 360 RRODs, why do you hear some people having 5-6 RRODs? Looks like they would fix the problem the first time.

All i used was a hairdryer and a small flathead screwdriver, just hold the dryer by it for about 15 seconds and then take the screwdriver and slide it under the clip NOT The sticker and pull the tab up and the sticker should come up.. just leave the screwdriver in place untill u unclip the back of the system
