OfficeDepot will Have the Maxell's 100Ct .Spindles DVD-R & DVD+R for $19.99 each Which is almost the same as the sale price on their media ( OD BRand) Assuming You could get some that are OEM'ED By Ritek might Not be a Bad Deal? Just though you'd like to know ! and to quote from an earlier post"he made in Taiwan Maxell you can tell by the part number on the wrapper ( near the bar code/UPC label) To quote Bratcher "
Check the end codes in the part number for the actual manufacturer.

CMC is CMC
MDM is Ritek
PT is Prodisc
RT is Ricoh

Of these the Ritek & Ricoh media are good for video." In case it might help ? Thanx to Bratcher & all The Afterdawn Members for Past present & future Help !!! Ciao!!!!

Ritek and Ricoh media on all OD media that I have encountered!! Not too shabby. I rate it along Sony 1x-8x and 1x-16x..

dabig25 - Yes to the best of my limited understanding ! As long as the Media is DVD+R or DVD+RW or DVD+R DL ( double Layer ) then you can bookType it to DVD -Rom ! Your not rally Making a DVD-Rom as they are Pressed Like CD's and Vinyl records were ( Vinyl I guess that dates me Huh?) But everyone says they're Burning DVD's or CD's in common speech so that's what most people go By ! I have a sister-in-law that calls CD's Tapes cause that's what she's familiar with ! When you booktype DVD media what your really doing is pulling a fast one on your DVD-Burner, DVD-Player or DVD recorder ! Booktyping basically burns a code onto your disc that fools the drive into thinking that it's a DVD-ROM ( A DVD movie ,GAME disc or Software) DVD-Rom is the most compatable in DVD media( That's what they are designed to play !) followed By Booktyped DVD+R/+RW media and then DVD-R In Practice if your dealing with a fairly recent DVD player it'll probably play anything Round short of a Cheese pizza ! Where compatability problems tend to occur is with older DVD Players and Ironically Expensive DVD players ! They can be picky about which media they play ! newer Dvd Players especially the More inexpensive players tend to play nearly anything !Media wise I've used DVD+R & DVD-R with about equal Results on my DVD Players & Liteon 5005 set Top DVD RECorder !Booktyped DVD+R et;all is the most compatable it's true and I do booktype when using DVD+R media BUt I do BUY & use both ! though I tend to Buy DVD+R when I can !The main thing is to use quality media whichever format /Type you get ! Good media is the best assurance of a good conclusion to your Burning endeavors !Be they DVD movies (Back Ups ) Game Back ups or Data Disc !) Sorry to run off at the keyboard -To much Diet Dr. Pepper I guess but good luck and happy Burning dabig25 !

Are you kidding me ?? No apology needed for the long post. Everything your saying is more info I need to understand in suing +RW media. Which I'm not as familiar w/ as with -R media which is what I always use.

Thanks again. Now thinkin' about getting a cheapy DVD player for my bedroom that will play almost anything hat I can throw at it ( minus the cheese on it).

Interesting ?
I looked on Amazon.com & saw that they also had some players w/ a front USB port on them. So that you can just download a file onto the Flash drive & plug it into the player & just watch it from the flash drive..............Hmmmm

Check around at odd and end stores. I've seen $25 and below players at:
Odd Lots/Big lots
Aldi
Dollar General/family dollar

Those el-cheapo players usually play anything you throw at them.

BTW: My local odd lots has Optimum white cd/dvd sleeves,100 pk for $4. I picked up a couple and will stock up on some more next week.

Staple's, I picked up a 100 pack of MIT Sony +x-16x. No MIJ sony on the shelves. Also checked the memorex, all MII- MBI crap. No ricoh memorex on the slelf. Their Maxell's had no code in the upc label. Walmart did and were ritek or cmag.

Here's the MIT sony,the usual SonyD21 and I'm satisfied:

saugmon- Did anyone happen to check the Maxells Product codes at Officedepot ? or BestBuy ? I don't think my local has the 100ct. spindles of maxells but If they did I could price match ! & use My card so it would'nt actually cost me anything ! I checked online they show maxells in the 50Ct.spindles only ! Oh well as Scarlett Ohara once said tomorrows another day !and I've always depended obn the kindness of strangers !!! God I hated that book all 1027 pages of it in paperback !!!

So that you can just download a file onto the Flash drive & plug it into the player & just watch it from the flash drive..............Hmmmm- Yes but if the file is in Divx Codec you'll need a player that can playback DIVX files ( Like some models of Philips Dvd Players do with a USB jack to plug the aforementioned Flash Drive into " Additionaly I've heard of people Ripping their movies to a external Usb Hard Drive and then plugging that into the Usb jack equiped DVD player and playing their movies through the player from the hard drive ! Have'nt done it myself cause I'm not set up for that but It has possibility's ?

Interestingly, I went to my local Staples for the Sony 100 ct and it turns out that even though the sale showed up in an ad, it was not on sale at the store. A little research back online shows that my "local" ad was for the Marin San Rafeal area, not the San Francisco Area, which is kinda silly since they are just on the other side of the Golden gate Bridge. But they price matched their online ad and the one from North Bay anyway, so it worked out.
