I installed a D2Ckey, and checked all the connections right to the clips pins, as well as shorts to adjacent pins. Everything is okay. I power up the Wii and the red and blue light flash for a moment. I insert an original game and the red LED flashes for a bit then goes out and the game works. I try a burned copy and it does not read the disk. I tried burning with different software, different images, different speeds, different media. Still does not load. anyone else had the same problem? Solutions?

Do I need to use verbatim discs only?

Media can be critical and Verbs are prolly the most popular - Others will work as well. Some disks are no use at all.

Does it sound like my chip is okay with how I described the lights flashing? Could it be my drive?

Just tried a different burner, no luck. Perhaps my D2Ckey is broken.

I just said this in another post so I'll quote myself:
Quote: Unfortunately checking for continuity isn't good enough when dealing with digital components. You need to check the resistivity from pin to pin, D2C to D2Ckey. They should all be less than one Ohm. Anything more and you have a bad solder.
If the led lights flash for a moment and then fade away, then you have a bad connection on one or more of the points.

Also make sure that you bridge the correct jumper for your region on the D2Ckey, if you connected the L wire.

I jumpered JP1 and still have L connected. I tried soldering X directly to the D2CKey and that did not work. Then I found that 1 row of pins on the FPGA on the D2C key were not soldered properly. After fixing that, it still did not fix it, but the red light flashed while reading an original where as before it didn't. Then I redid all the wiring in case of a bad solder joint, and it was still the same. Then I found a broken capacitor near pin S, I replaced it with a 10000pF(not sure what was there before) and then it worked. YEAH! WOOHOO!!!!! DVD+R worked too.

Where exactly is the cap located that you were talking about? I had similar problems but now I have originals working but copies give me the blackscreen reboot message. Sure wish D2CKey.com had some troubleshooting tips.

Near the S location on the D2CKey, maybe check all resistors and caps, then the pins on the fpga, I think they just program then and don't test the other connections.

Everything looks fine but I am not sure what values the caps and resistors are supposed to be. What kind of media are you using? Also, the original seems to only boot now when I completely power off the wii (red light) and boot with the disk inserted. I tried two different burned games on fujifilm media (my fav for PS2) and I just get the black screen of death.

Is there any information online that states the input and ouput of the d2ckey pins? I am amazed that the makers of this chip posted practically no information.
