I am offered a EU Wii + WiiKey + 2 nunchuck kit for an OK price (definitely not expensive, deffinitely not bargain), lightly used, and I can't decide whether I want it or not. I have couple WiiKey questions that need an answer before I make my decision. I know there are answers in this forums but woud take me days to sort them out, and I need to say Yes or No by monday.
1. Do all Wii backup games (not original Wii games) run on a WiiKey-modded Wii? What is all that noise about Super Paper Mario? Are there other games like this that never run on WiiKey or that brick WiiKey?
2. What are the chances of bricking Wii+WiiKey by playing other region games? Does WiiKey offer protection from such bricking? Does WiiKey recover bricked Wiis?
3. Does upgrading firmware via games damage WiiKey or Wii in general? Are there firmwares to stay away from?
4. Have WiiKey managed so far to be undetected by Nintendo software?
5. I am not sure what WiiKey version firmware is on the Wii. Given that I don't upgrade the firmware from the initial one, do I lose compability with recent Wii games?
Thanks in advance. I need urgent help to make this decision, so I would be grateful for your verbose and quick answers.
You should do the research. But at this point it might take a while.
1. Some people say it doesnt play every game. As for me, I backup ALOT of games and never had an issue.
That Super Paper Mario thing was along time ago. It was basic people updating their wii from different regions. If you get the Pal/EU wii just update from games with the same region, Pal for you. If you update from a game that is from the USA or Jap you can get bricked. If you must play games out of region make sure you have the wii's latest firmware which is 3.2 as of now plus wiiblocker.
2. The only way to get brick if from updating from a game out of your region.
The wiikey has nothing to do with bricked wii's. If you are bricked you must wait for a game OF YOUR OWN REGION to update from to get your wii back to normal.
3. No, you want to update your wii. But make sure to check here to see if is safe to update your wii. As of now the 3.2 update is safe for wiikeys.
4. Wiikey is undetected by nintendo, you can play online and everything.
5. Try backing up Super Mario Galaxy, if it dont read it you need to update the wiikey to 1.9g which is the latest firmware for the wiikey.
I will be checking the machine at home, so can you tell me how can I access these, so I can quickly do it when I get the machine here for quick inspection? Thanks in advance.
