I'm very new to this website, so I apologize if there has been a thread like this one. I've been googling my problem, and I can't seem to find help.

I have Swap Magic 3 Plus, a slide tool, a FAT PS2 and I'm trying to back up my PS2 games. I backed up Burnout Revenge with no problems at all. It plays just fine on my PS2 and doesn't freeze at any point in the game. I have also created two of my own Guitar Hero II discs, and those work perfectly.

I seem to be having a problem when backing up God of War II and DDR Extreme. Both of the games freeze. God of War II actually starts up, but when I reach a movie, it freezes. DDR Extreme boots up, but freezes first thing.

Here's what I do to rip the games:

I open up my DVD drive and copy the files from the discs on to my desktop into a new folder. Next, I use CD/DVD Rom Generator v1.20 to create an .iml file. After that, I use Apache 3 to create an ISO file from the .iml file. Finally, I use Nero 7 Ultra to burn the disc at a speed of 2X. I even tried burning it with DVD Decrypter, but I still had no luck.

I've heard of patches, but I'm not sure where to obtain them. I've also heard of shrinking... and I've also tried shrinking the ISO files with Gnie's ExPert tool. I've maybe wasted about 10 DVDs lol. I thought maybe I'd be able to fix this problem myself, but I guess not XD.

I would appreciate it if anyone can help me and/or link me to solutions =)

Here are two guides for rebuilding (shrinking) games down to DVD5. This will only need to be done for God of War.

-Link 1

-Link 2

As for DDR extreme, I would try burning at 4X with Imgburn.

Try opening DDR Extreme (original game) the .iso image using your PC. I remember when I was backing up Bloodrayne 2.

It would not work with normal techniques, so I looked at the files and found like 3 or 4 that were labeled GARBAGE1, GARBAGE2,etc. I deleted those, rebuilt the image, burned and it worked. Sometimes they put in 'dummy data' to take up space.

Ahhh, thank you so much. Yes, I found an actual file labeled "Dummy" Lol XD. I wish I had caught this earlier... I would have deleted it right away. Ok, I'm going to try and burn a new copy and test it out right now. Thank you =D!

Ok, so I made progress, and I'm actually happy ^_^

Now that I've deleted the "Dummy" file... the game freezes after a few more seconds! Lol... it's ok though, it makes me happy to know that I'm getting somewhere...

I was looking through the original game's data... and there doesn't seem to be any other suspicious looking files... so... I'm not sure what else is disrupting it.

I haven't been able to try that yet. I let a friend borrow it -_- Lol. But, he knows that I need to back it up so I'll probably get it real soon.

Could you post a list of the files in DDR Extreme? That way I can look through them and possibly find other unnecessary files.

Those files look pretty important to me so I would leave them alone. I read that you copied the files from the drive to the desktop into a new folder. That method should work but it is much easier to rip the game as an .iso file using DVD Decrypter. Try ripping it with DVD Decrypter as an .iso and then burn it with Imgburn at 4X.

I did some searching as well and found out that there is a rip kit for this game. It is called 'Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Ntsc BY DARTHI8NT' I could not find it though, googled it and everything.

I have swap magic v3.6 plus and I brought this item from a website called Menmtech solutions. The way I use it is I firstly start of by putting in the swap magic disk in the console. Once the programme loads I swap the disks around but it sais not a valid ps2 disk. I bought this game from India. Is it because of the game or am I doing something wrong. My playstation is slimline and the version is V14. The model numberis SCPH 75003.The two swap magic disks came with a slide card but I dont know how to use this. Have I bought the wrong swap magic or not.

Please could any of you out there help me out. I would be very gratefull as i really want to start using my copied games.

Glad you got it working.

@hussain78

When you swap the discs are you sure you have the sensors blocked (3 total). For slimlines slidecards will not work. You need to use magic keys II, a fliptop, or some other method.

I would recommend trying a cheap solution first. That way you don't have to buy more stuff. Here is a link to Ace's cardboard and straw mod.
