getting error when trying to use "ImgBurn" for the first time...
Searched for similar problem but could not find...
A little help please!....
DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME)Failed!
Device: [0:1:0] HP DVD WRITER 740b Hj24(D:) (ATA)
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
Reason:Access is denied.

Moved to appropriate forum.
You have two choices here...either ignore and try to burn the image, or cancel and open your task manager and try to identify the other program that is trying to access your drive. Post a burn log please, they can be found at Help -> Imgburn logs. Post the most recent one.

Went to "ImgBurn" web sight-support and found this:
Problem:
You get an error saying 'Unable to lock volume for exclusive access'
A.K.A. 'DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!'
Answer:
If the 'Reason' given is 'Invalid function' (or words to that effect)
You need to update your IDE drivers. Your current ones are old and don't support this IMPORTANT feature.
If the 'Reason' given is 'Access is denied' (or words to that effect)
Another program is currently using the drive. You need to find out what it is and shut it down!
The only way I know of finding out what else has a 'handle' open to the drive is by using Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com
Load it up and click 'Find' -> 'Find Handle...'
The type 'cdrom' and click 'search'
See if it comes up with any results
If it doesnt, try searching for the drive letter of that drive - i.e. 'F:'
If it finds something, click on it in the search window. The main window should then highlight the process / 'File' entry that contains the handle to the drive. You can right click -> close the handle if you like, or just close the entire application, it's up to you.
You may also get error 'Unknown (34)' sometimes. Cancel the burn, press F5 and then attempt to write it again. It's just windows going mad, nothing to worry about wink.gif
I also have a little proggy called unlocker 1.8.5it seems to of taken care or my problem so far....Thanks to the info on this web sight for the answers!

"unlocker" did open a box with the running processes , it did show me what else "had a handle"....And btw I did download
"Process Explorer" , very nice little proggy , I also used it to verify my "unlocker" info....And to update :
Everything as far as this problem , is taken care of!
And like I stated before I owe it all to LOCOENG and this sites great info!!!!!

CD/DVD Speed and DVDInfoPro will also throw out this error. Being forgetful as I am, I forgot to close DIP after scanning a disc and got the dreaded error...closed DIP and all was dandy.
