There is no list - it's all trial and error because compression levels vary. I always compress CSO to highest level and if I have problems with the game I use the ISO instead... which is maybe only one or two.

LOL - I don't think it's a big deal. The vast majority of games are absolutely fine so there's not really that much call for it. I personally would have no use for a list and I think most ppl would be the same. I can only assume you are having some issues with some games and that may well be down to other factors.

No I'm not having problems, I just don't want to compress a game delete the iso get halfway trhough it and then have problems later, like I just compressed patapon and now it is stuck on the loading screen so now I have to get the original iso again

Ah - I see - well I NEVER delete the iso until I've tested the CSO - also you can use the CSO to make the ISO - i.e. undo the compression. I don't know how reliable this is cos I've only done it once but it worked fine then.

Actually have you tried changing the UMD ISO MODE on your psp to Sony NP9660? That might fix your problem.

here use this program it will compress and uncompress iso/cso
there are no side affects of a compression
all that happens when something is compressed is that it finds bytes that are the same and give them a location so if you have three bytes the same say 00010101 and you compress it it will got to one and have some extra 1/0 to correspond to where to put them and how many there are. (thats how i think it works 0_<) then when you uncompress it it will go back to normal
its very good for files that are very repetitive and large files
hope that helps

I use this program - it's from France but in English - I couldn't find the current version in English - it's at 2.94 but it will update itself. There is a facility to change images to diefferent types, ISO, CSO etc. - Takes a bit of sussing out but it's not that hard.

if there are no side effects to compression then how come, syphon filter, GTA and Jackass etc. have problems when compressed?

because its compressed so it has to located where to run the code to put it into better terms its like writing a big essay its easy to read normally but if you go to compress it you would do it like this
compress1,2,32,12 where the numbers would correspond to the word count so it would start with compress and the another compress and then again as the 12 and 32 word. which start to make it harder to read fast thats how come cso run slow.
hope that helps to explain compressing a bit better 0_<

ok so since CSO runs slower, larger games that need to run faster glitch and have problems is that kind of the gist of it?

God of War sucks at any compression level. PSP iso compressor v1.4 is a good program also (google it) There is a list of games at which compression level they work and don't but I can't remember which forum. I'm a member of like 20. Three on the go right now. :)

Sometimes when games can't be compressed, I use UMD Gen unzip it and remake the iso and they can be compressed. I do not know y but it work. Maybe it have something to do with other people ripping/compressing the game.

any compression level will work but some games just get real choppy. I compress my own from original ISO and test at every other level till there's no lag whatsoever before I upload it. Most people compress and don't test it then when you get to a scene there's a lot of action it get's choppy.
