I thought about getting Zack and Wiki, I would have asked in my old thread, but someone just had to change my thread title and close it down.

Well there are plenty of sites that have user ratings on video games. Would be more practical to search there instead of asking in a forum like this.

LOL - your last thread asked about modchips and friends codes which are both diverse topics in any case - so you were just gonna randomise it a bit more?

Good games - go read some reviews - they generally tell you what's good or bad ;)

Who said I don't play games?

I said it would be more piratical to go to a gaming website that gives user ratings on the games EG: gamespot and get top user ratings from that.

I usually just ask people what a good game is from a bunch of different forums. That way I can ask specific questions.

AFreak - re your comment in my shoutbox.

I already gave you an adequate answer here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/640405/3876700 which in turn links to here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/378323

When you've read those links properly, why do you still not understand why Friend Codes aren't allowed ?

"no more friend code threads allowed here anymore, for reasons why see any of the numerous closed threads in this very forum. if you can't cope without swapping friend codes then by all means do it outside of the forums via private messages"

That's all I see that goes into any real detail about friends codes, yet that really doesn't say much, just that, we don't like them, so don't post em here. That's fine, I just wanted a better explanation. If its just for clutter, I could see where that could be a problem if there wasn't a thread dedicated for just friend codes, but I'm just not seeing why you just didn't make a sticky thread and be done with it.

See - if it was me and the forum I was visiting didn't cater for the type of discussion I wanted or the kind of posts I want to make, then I'd use another more suitable one cos otherwise I'd look like I was stubbornly posting crap and boring everybody else.

I like to stay current and keep up with what the latest games are and I visit many sites but I come here because this site caters for other issues.

Well, I usually post on the PS3 General Forum here, and they didn't berate me for asking about video games in a Console forum.

We have trid a dedicated thread, more than once, and every single time we get incoherent rubbish posted, irrelevant chatting, pointless and unwanted conversation. And it's not what this site is about; search hard enough and you'll still find the dedicated threads we used to run, they make very sorry reading. Now you can keep going on and on about this, but we've tried allowing it too many times and it's been abused non-stop by too many 11yr old kids too high on sugar to be allowed loose on the internets..

Like most stuff on AD, there answers are nearly always here; i always try to be very specific when i offer help/answers to things; if anytime i ever don't seem to give all the answers it's just that the threads are always there for all to see, plus i'm always far too helpful, i should really get more people to search for themselves instead of giving so many links to things...

To sum up, here's a link to a (very amusing) thread of a poster so desperate to talk utter pap about Friend Codes that he tried hiding in a completely irrelevant forums and proceeded to talk gibberish and confuse the hell out of the grown ups in there... That thread alone should explain how Friend Codes provide nothing of use or value and kill brain cells of us normal people.. - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/342496

Well I don't see any harm in asking for a simple advice. If you are looking for mature games I like resident evel 4 wii edition. Other good games are super mario galaxy, super paper mario, metroid, and links crossbow training.

As for the friend codes, what kind of an idiot would post their wii's code on a forum that discusses backing up games. You might as well e-mail nintendo and ask them to put you at the top of the ban list whenever they get it up and running. :)

Paranoid much?

And to AFreak like others have said you should just look up on numerous sites what are the highest rated games.

In my experience rating from critics are never accurate. They have such high expectations that most things suck.

I agree with that if you look at individual reviews actually cos there's always bias but I tend to look at a good cross section and see what the averages are.

Most sites have USER ratings. Which means critics are more then likely not the core base of the rating if at all. It is users like us that rate the game plus sites like gamespot has a comment section as well when rating the game.

You can take our advice or not but as an AfterDawn Addict I have seen allot of previous threads of this type never really get allot of attention. Because most find user ratings on other sites if they want to get a good idea of how good a game is.

Exactly Larry - I look at user ratings as well and I like as much info/opinion as possible, including trailers and ingame video. Dedicated gaming sites provide so much more info than a bunch of casual posts in a thread, bearing in mind that you can't get the same in depth critique and quality of literary presentation with screen shots etc. - In a forum like this the best you can hope for in truth is somebody saying they either like a game or dislike it with, if you are lucky, some vague generalisation which isn't much help at all.

I could for instance say "RESI evil 4 sucks" - and ppl would be confused then cos one guy says it's good and another says it's bad - where's the qualification? Or is a basic straw poll in a random forum enough to influence ppls decisions to investigate or not as the case may be, said games? Not for me or anyone with anything about them I think ;)

Oh and I like the whole resi evil series btw but my son - who games much more than me reckons they suck :)

I just added the comment section becuse the orignal poster said he likes to be able to ask questions about the game. You have to take users comments as face value. It really depends on the users preference and what genre of games they like to play but most sites do an over all rating of all individual ratings and that tends to give you a good idea of how good the game is.
