How do I know which Hitachi drive I have?

I was wondering if I were going to flash my 360,what if the older version of a hitachi drive came up.I am sure my drive is a Hitachi but dont no the versiion here are the details about it.Im thinking its a v78 drive and not the old ones.It would really help if I didnt have to open it.Also I've heard it depends when ur 360 was made so here is the info.Im not afraid of opening it up its that I barely find anytime of my own.I hve everything ready but yet this cautions me because you need a different method of flashing for older drives and I really dont feel like learning it.But anyways,if it is different ill flash it.I just hope its v78.If you have any knowledge what so ever of this please post it.I'd be happy to take anyones advice particular to this.Thank you very much -Erfan223

the v78 can be flashed with SLAX same with older drives if im correct if not my bad

Actually your are mistaken,only V78 DRIVES can be flashed with Slax 2.0 or 2.1 alpha.

That would really get on my nerves because then I woudnt even bother flashing my drive.What if I got mine from Target.Who knows?Ive seen drives with v78 and theyre elite.You may be right though.Thank you very much for the chart by the way I was looking for something like that!

Just a handful of Elites had the Hitachi 78 drive. And those were launch consoles here in the States. There's an Elite listed on that site which has the exact same mfg date, lot number, and team as what you have, and it's listed as a 79.

Well,then it turns out no more flashing for me then.I dont want to brick my drive and have no high soldering skills.I have nothing else to do now .Thanks for letting me know man.By the way nice picture,did you download the Borat picture pack?That looks like the fat guy from that movie.lol
I have posted other threads about this but nevermind.

Ya, that's from the Borat pack.
Do you still have the option to return your Elite? You could use 360drives.com to help you find one with a Benq drive.

Actually no.It ended in january 8 of 2008.and i bought it from Target.
they have the best return policy as far as I know.(90 Days)It can even be opened.But my time ran out and Ill just keep it.Ive had several consoles actually:Xbox 360 premium back in like june,july 2007,I retuned it because i thought Ps3 was way better(AND IT WAS),but way more BORING
I bought PS3,back in the whole 2007 fall season,and i returned it because i didnt get any fun out of it and it got boring as hell playing only one game called
RESISTANCE:FALL OF MAN.( I accomplished every goal there was)
Then,I purchased the Xbox 360 Elite 1 week after halo 3 came out.
This was the console i was looking for man.And I actually was hoping I never got a BenQ because theyre kinda hard to flash to and i havent seen how they flash it.Maybe I can flash my friends 360 premium.Thanks alot for the link you gave me/(AGAIN).
