Well to start it off i am confused about all the upgrade and downgrade on the psp, another thing im confused about is the slim and the regular psp, i am guessing the slim has different firmwares to upgrade and downgrade from? I have a psp brand new never used in a box from 3 years ago never had the time to do any haxing to it, now i got in a bad accident so i will be home for a bit so i have a chance to play around with psp, my version is a 2.1 if that would help. Were can i start looking at for the psp i have? not the slim?

If you goto pspvault and download the official firmware 2.71, install that on your psp and then goto Here and download the 2.71 downgrader. After that you'll be at 1.5 and you can use Thisguide.
