hi

I keep seeing all these number like cfw v3.9m33-2, what does it really mean? Is v3.9 the lastest version to the cfw (example: 3.7, 3.8, 3.9 etc...) Do you need to be at v3.9 to play? What does the m33-2 mean?

right brake down first the numbers

the numbers are the firmware version (the higher the newer) like 3.90 and the new 3.93

second the m33 this shows that it is custom firmware which is made by dark alex you might see some oe which is old custom firmware if there is no m33 or oe then its sonys official firmware but sometimes people forget to put it on 0_<

m33 - team march 33
oe - open edition

and last the -2,3 + these are the update patches for custom firmware because something may need fixing in one of the custom firmware a patch will be made so it will add the -2 again the higher the number the newer the patch on some of the oe custom firmware you'll see -a or -b those are just the same as -2 but are linked with a oe firmware
