The purpose of this thread is to hammer out the details and rules that we will implement on the tournament thread so that we get everyone's input; otherwise it will fall apart.

Here is our idea's so far.

1.)No one can just say they want a tournament there will be a preset schedule, this is to avoid confusion and all around sketchiness not to mention having too much going on.

2.)Only accounts of member or higher may sign up for the tournaments OR a junior member who has been a member of Afterdawn for at least 30 days. The reasoning for this is to stop people from signing up to Afterdawn simply to play in the tournament, this is not what the tournaments were intended for.

3.)Tournaments will only be held on weekends or holidays, this is to keep things more organized and so that more people will be able to participate.

4.)No game can have a tournament more than once every two weeks, this is to keep the tournament interest up, give people more of a heads up, and so that people wont have to play for long periods simply to take part in all the game tournaments that one would want to enter.

5.)If a player cannot attend the tournament that member must communicate it to us at least 2 hours before the tournament. Failure to do so will result in the following tournament suspensions:

1st offense 2 week suspension

2nd offense 4 week suspension

3rd permanent suspension

The slates will be wiped clear on new years day, with the exception of permanent bans.

All of the ideas are of course up for debate and revision, I would be grateful to hear everyone else's opinions/ideas as well.

We really have to have a good foundation for this or else its going to go to hell and this is our only chance. Moderator input on the rules and scheduling would be greatly appreciated as well.

Edit #1 Changed junior member requirement to member requirement on advice from ooZEROoo

Edit #2 Added rule 5 on advice from Sudds, still needs revisions on how long beforehand we need notice and how long the person will be suspended from the tournaments for; hence the X's.

Edit #3 Changed rule 2 once again to include people with special exceptions, but needs revisions on how long the person must have been a member for; hence the X.

Edit #4 Updated rule #5 with incremental punishments; and rule #2 with 30 days as the necessary time a person must be a member.

I would say make the requirement for members to be at member and up. It doesnt take many post to be a junior member. Lets say for a moment that I sign up on Afterdawn today, I could be a junior member by tonight by making a few BS posts.

Anyway, here is the website I made awhile back when we where trying to get our AFD Clan going.AFD CLAN.org . I would like to see us combine yalls idea with combined my own from awhile back. We already have a good many members in the AFD Clan, but we need to start internal competitions amoung ourselves until we are good enough to challenge others. Maybe other sites could get on the bandwagon *cough* PS3news, and then challenge them...

i think whoever organises the tournament should leave there PSN and whoever wants to join should send
him/her a message. Then comeback and edit that post with with the names of who joined... this will stop 18 messages of people saying ''im in''... this might keep the thread tidy. this is just an idea of course

If a member cant make the tournament, he/she should let organiser know at least one hour before start time, if not he/she is kicked out or banned for awhile.
This may sound harse, but as myself and Jlhfit know, theres nothing as annoying as people not turning up.
When we had the AD warhawk clan, numerous times we ended up with not enough players.

I dont like #3. You're assuming everybody owns the same games which isn't the case. The more games/tournaments the greater the opportunity people have to play in them. I think you should be able to have one whenever you want and do that for a long enough period to see the trends. From that info then you should determine if there needs to be a specific time structure.

This might also apply to number 4 as well. Give it some time before you start putting caps on certain games. COD 4 for example, you're probably going to have people that would want to have a tourny every week.

IMO it's just to early in the game to determine these types of things. There definately needs to be a structure so that you don't get overkill but how you go about doing that on the first run is hard to determine.

I wasn't meaning weekends in the sense that it needs to be done there because of longer times but because it is generally when people are less busy. And I've been teetering on my #4 idea as well, Its hard to explain why I like the idea so much yet at the same time it feels right, but yet not being able to pinpoint the reason makes it seem illogical.

I definitely agree with you there but I assumed it was a common courtesy so it didn't need mentioning but I suppose that the rule must be laid down so that no one complains when theres backlash for their own laziness.

Hi,

I have to disagree with one of your "rules".

The one about the entry requirement being upgraded from member?
What about people who own a shared computer and have a limited amount of time to access each day? I tink you should have stuck to the original idea of member, just my opinion though.

This is one of the problems that I had foreseen arising from upgrading the requirement from junior member to member, but I think I've thought of an idea to compensate that will keep everyone happy.

good luck on getting this thing up and running.

You should make a rule saying that only Senior members (or members, your choice) can MAKE a tournament.

Also, this would make a kickass AfterDawn tournament rules...

Thats pushing it. Ive been a frequent poster on AD for about a year and I'm still not a senior member. I don't like that rule at all.

The plan I had thought of was to have tournaments scheduled, not made up by members. I figured if people could just decide to have a tournament (regardless of who) it could become a mess of individual tournaments very quickly, hence idea #1.

And I still need input on a few of the X's for 2 of the ideas.
