It's been on Xbins, 360mods, and Xbox Scene since the end of January.

Those are the only 3 places I've checked. I know it's everywhere else.

If you ever need help finding something after a failed search, be sure to ask. There's plenty of us here who will help.

I don't know why. The Rapidshare link in the first post is still active.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Hello all...

I am brand new to this whole XBox mod scene (although I contribute frequently to other forums here at AD).

I am still not 100% clear on all the information I have gathered about backing up 360 games.

I have my 360 with a Liteon drive flashed with iXtreme v1.6...

I understand that if I use XBox Backup Creator that I must use a Samsung SH-D162B or SH-D163B flashed with Kreon firmware. If I rip an image with this drive do I still need to patch with ABGX360?

Also, is this the only PC drive that can be used to rip 360 images? To clarify, is it possible to use a regular DVD drive and then patch the disc image somehow?

Lastly, I understand that with iXtreme v1.6 it is possible to use the XBox 360's drive to rip images, but how this is achieved I am not sure. What methods are there to use the XBox 360's internal drive to rip disc images?

Yes, with the iXtreme 1.6, you can use the 360 drive to rip 360 games. You need to connect the drive through SATA, and when windows is loading you need to put the drive in Vendor Mode, which will allow windows to see the Drive in "My Computer". Once that's achieved, you just insert a game, open up XBC, and rip it!

Thank you for your reply. :-)

So... To my understanding that would involve leaving the XBox 360 and PC case open and connecting via SATA, powering on the 360 through it's own power supply, right? I am not sure what exactly is vendor mode and where to select it though, I may be able to figure it out.

I already ordered a Samsung SH-D163B (SATA) with Kreon v1.0. I guess it will save wear and tear on the 360 drive anyways.

although the 1.6 firmware does allow you to do this, i still think a kreon drive is the best option, you dont need to take out your drive each time you want to rip a game, also like he said it saves wear and tear on your 360 drive. i have a kreon drive, never had any problems with it and it works great :D

Yeah you probably won't be "wear & tear" your drive using it that way. And no you don't always have to take it out of your box. If you had something like the Blaster360 NE, you would never take it apart again!

I have a SH-D163B flashed with Kreon 1.0 and it works great for ripping games. Once game is ripped, I just run it through ABGX with Level 3 correction enabled and let it do its thing and make sure the game checks out ok.

After that, I just burn the image on a Verbatim DL DVD+R with ImgBurn on my LG Super Multi Blue drive.

Haven't had a singe game not work yet.
I am using iextreme 1.51

This was something I asked earlier. I was under the impression that using a SH-D163B flashed with Kreon that no patching with ABGX was necessary. Do you still need to do this, or are you doing this just to be safe?

Ya people use ABGX just to make sure that the game is safe to play online. The KREON Firmware doesn't do all of that for you. It's purpose is really to just recognize the 360 games, and rip them.

Yes Dav is correct. While most games check out ok with no changes being made by ABGX, I would say at least 30% of them still get some sort of change done when run through.

It takes all of 5 minutes to do though, very easy.
