Well, I never bought any Verbs because they're usually twice as expensive than "other" brands. Back in October when I first flashed my console I bought only 2 packs of 3 Memorex discs because that's the only thing the Radioshack close to my house had and because I just wanted to test it first before going out and actually buying a big pack to start backing up some of my games. So I backed up and burned 6 games, Halo 3, Virtua Fighter 5, Bioshock, The Orange Box, Spiderman FoF and Gears Of War and they all work flawless to this day, to be truthful I never had any problems with Memorex media EVER! even though they're supposed to be one of the cheapest brands

What I do want to know is if they will make my 360's laser wear out eventually or what? they always work perfectly, load times are as good as original games and you never hear any weird noises at all...

Tomorrow I'm thinking buying more (I haven't burned anything else since October last year due to that I'm either working or out with my girlfriend) but I don't think I will be able to afford Verbs...should I still buy Memorex? XBC recognized as Ritek but I don't remember which specific version of those...I heard the Office Depot ones are also Ritek...

you are just lucky, you got the good batch of memorex discs then. But the xbox laser is very picky and it whants the best discs. The ink in memorex is low quality so more often they are not good for backups. Sony has improved their dual layer discs, now they are with high quality ink accucore but they are not cheap. I only use Verbatim. and will consider SOny only if I can find it cheap enough. Bottom line Verbatim is the way to go, anything else is hit or miss

Thanks guys!

Well I have over 2 hundred "backups" with memorex, sony, philips and a bunch of many other cheap brands and to this date... not a single problem... in fact I don't have a single verbatim disc. So in my opinion, the risk is more with the burner and recording speed. I usually burn at 2.4x... some at 4x... (I even went up to 16x about twice by mistake, and they worked fine too) but going beyond 4x is kind of risky...

that's my story... take care everyone.

Well, I never burn higher than 2.4x usually and I have a Lite-On burner...so far the games are still working so I don't know...
