Im on 3.90 M33-2 with that fastmspatch and Ive just downloaded Crisis Core, but the FMVs lag quite bad. Its really bad on the new game and load game screen. The ingame cutscenes are fine and gameplays perfect, no lags at all, just FMVs. Which is a shame since there so nice.
Does anyone else have this problem or know a fix?
Oh yeah Ive tried the M33 driver, Sony driver and normal and the different kernals aswell, and the speeds at 333 but still no luck.
Could it be a firmware problem?
My nephews coming today and hes got 3.71 M33 so ill test it on his.

my 3.90 m33-2 slim has no problems with crisis core fmv's. speed set at 333 and driver to sony np9660.

most likely it's your memory stick format. i formatted mine to standard FAT instead of FAT32. i'd suggest you do the same too.

- backup all memory stick contents to computer first; you will be formatting
- open a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
- type "format (memory stick drive letter): /fs:fat"
- *if using 4gig or higher, will ask to use 64k kernel; type "y"
- allow it to finish formatting, and place all contents back onto memory stick

Ive got fastmod on, but it doesnt make a difference. I'll try what you said cee43ja1, I just hope It dont mess up everything. Will my games still read ok after I format to FAT?
Could it be anything to do with you have a slim and I have a fat?

EDIT> cee43ja1, You are a GENIUS! Just did what you said and now the FMVs work flawlessly! If I had a cookie, Id give you one. You've made my life a little bit better. Thanks :D

Would this also help with other games? I had alot of lag on God of War: COO. I'll have to try it, but it might just be a bad rip with that one.
Thanks again!

See ya later.

I'm having a bit of trouble as well.

It works fine on the opening intro but when it gets to gets to the part with jenova's head it freezes and then blacks out.

I would just skip it but during gameplay on a CSO version of the game when a cutscene appears it freezes after a bit through and i can't continue.I downloaded an ISO version in which the freezing happens a bit later in the video.

I have a slim with 3.60 M33.
I'm gonna do the mem stick format thing now but in the meantime this is the problem i'm having.

i'd get rid of 3.60 m33, as it was very buggy. update to 3.90 m33-2 asap.

I formatted the mem card but it still crashes at the same place in the intro. The game also crashes when i get to doors ago defeating the guys in wutai.

I'm updated my PSP to 3.80 M33 - 5 cause i heard it's less buggy than everything else.

how big is the iso and cso? there have been reported problems with a version of the game that is 1 gig the proper file size should be 1.7 iso and 1.2 for cso

yes, the japanese cc:ffvii iso should be 1.7gigs, and the cso, compressed with umdgen 4.0, should be 1.2gigs.

have no idea on the american version, as i hate english voice dubs; it'll be my last resort to understand the other half of the game. i'll wait until the undub version has feedback.

cee43ja's solution that worked for me. Format your memory card to FAT instead of FAT32 and no lag in the FMVs

It's 1.7 Gb and i've also upgraded to 3.80 M33 - 5.
Still having the same problems and now it seems to take a little longer to copy stuff to my PSP.
I'm gonna download a different version of the game.

Thanks for everybodies help by the way.

if stuff is taking longer to copy to the card, most likely the card is a fake. check if the card is magicgate supported. highlight the memory stick icon, and press triangle. go to information.

if it says magicgate unknown or is blank, the card is fake.

Okay I had the same problem with the Crisis Core FMV lagging after going from a 4gb to an 8gb stick. After pulling my hair out and many hours trying to fix the problem, only to find a wealth of misinformation on the internet... hopefully this will help someone.

I have a fat psp running 3.90 m33-3 with the msfatmod and 1.50 kernel installed. Running the full iso off a real 8gb sandisk high speed purchased off amazon. I'm also not using any of the NO-UMD modes, as these didn't make any difference.

First of all YOU CANNOT FORMAT AN 8GB CARD TO FAT(16)! It will not work, as the format is native to 4gb and below. Strangely this seems to be everyone's solution and is posted everywhere.

What did finally do the trick was reformatting the stick via the psp again after installing the fatmsmod. The folder scheme ends up completely different and you'll have to rearrange some of your media files, but I believe this is due to the way fatmsmod accesses the card. All I know is it worked.

So update your CFW, install fatmsmod, and REFORMAT the card via the psp in that order (and yes in FAT32). Good luck
