OK so after beating my head against the wall for the past (roughly) 6 hours, I'm giving up and asking for help.

I was using the guide at clever mod (http://www.clevermod.com/index.php?article=11) thinking it would help me pull the key from my hitachi that no longer reads game disks, and put it into the Samsung TS-H943A (F/W MS25) and allow me to play my xbox for the first time since Halo 3 came out. UNFORTUNATELY, i was able to get the key out, but I can't get into DOS to put a new firmware on.

My problems started when I tried to use iprep. If i use KDX to insert the key into any ixtreme firmware iprep says the .bin file is invalid. so i used the xtreme boot maker, it says to proceed with caution because it doesnt recognize the .bin. If i go ahead and complete the process anyways and proceed to reboot, i get to "FreeDOS" and then it stops, this also occurs when i try running NTFS4DOS.

1. Is there any way to flash the MS25 WITHOUT going into dos? I dont know if it's because of my PC or a bad copy of NTFS4DOS, but I cant get into a dos prompt other than a command line in vista. (PC setup will follow the questions)
2. If iprep will not allow me to use a firmware that has been re-saved with the correct Key, how do i get the correct key into the firmware?
3. Is there any OTHER step by step guides on swapping out 2 drives of different makes?

PC Specs:
Asus P5n-E Mobo
Intel Core2Duo E6550 (X64)
2GB ram
DVD Drive
Nvidia 8600 GT
Vista 64Bit

Get the firmware toolbox from Maximus.

Don't know if im allowing to post links so i won't. Just google it.

It will let you edit your key and whatnot.

1. You have to mod Samsungs in Dos. No way around that. Try using a boot floppy. Only thing you need is mtkflash.exe and the mtkflash.typ file and your hacked FW.

You can use the old xtreme bootmaker to make a USB/Floppy disk with the correct hex-edited mtkflash file.

NTFS for dos rarely works for me. I just use a floppy.

mtkflash w /m /sata hacked.bin

That's all you need to type whle in dos to flash a M25
