What's the biggest difference in the Argon mod chip and Infectus 2 chip? All I see is the difference in the flash memory...

So, wouldn't the new Wii-Clip coming out for Argon work with the Infectus 2 chip as well?

I've heard some good stuff concerning the Wii-Clips, such as that it doesn't overheat due to the fact that the cover doesn't completely seal the chip on the board of the Wii.

Only reason why I'm thinking about getting the Infectus 2 is that I've heard the programmer comes with it, where as the Argon doesn't come with a programmer.

Anybody know where I can get the programmer for the Argon for a decent price?

Infectus 2 = Multi-platform Modchip (Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360).

ARGON = Wii Only (plans for PS3 firmware on ARGON is supposedly in the works).

The options and instillation wire counts are the same when connecting it to Wii system.

You can get a Injectus for ARGON at modchipcentral.com or modchip.ca

So, essentially, the Wii-Clip designed for the ARGON would work with the Infectus?

Checked the website you recommended... Infectus 2 Modchip (Our price: $62.95) For the package (Chip and Injector)

And Argon D2C Modchip w/ Triwing Screwdriver ($59.95) + Argon D2C Modchip w/ Triwing Screwdriver ($22.95) = $82.90....the Infectus deal looks a lot better ATM...

The instilation points are the same when soldering to the chipset. So the part that clips on the chipset should work. But the end that you solder to the ARGON wouldn't line up if using an Infectus 2.

Hmmm...won't line up, huh?

Is it possible though? Or am I just on a wild goose-chase...?

The only option is if they make a Wii-Clip for Infectus 2 or install the ARGON Wii-Clip to drive-chip then install wires from the ARGON points on the Wii-clip to the Infectus. This option would avoid soldering to the leg pins themselves on the Wii chipset.

As you can see with the image below the soldering points for both Modchips are diffrent. So they will not line up if you get a Wii-Clip for ARGON.

Hmm, I see. Would you it'd be worth it? I don't have the materials nor the skill in soldering to take on a task such as soldering to the cut pins...

Would soldering wires from the Infectus to the Wii Clip cause problems? Would it be worth it, or will it be 100% a-okay? And what kind of wire should I use?

I'm really sorry about all the noobish questions...I'm trying to learn as much as I can! I just need someone to point me the right way...I want to get everything right before I take soldering on...pre-modded Wii's are so expensive!

larrylje,

Regarding the picture you posted on
22. March 2008 @ 20:49
in this thread, are they to scale relative to each other?

I don't care what the actual sizes of the two chips are, but RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER, is the Infectus 2 really just a little bit taller than the Argon, as the picture seems to indicate?

Thanks!
