I know what you are trying to do... what I want to know is that once you have created the ISO on your hard drive, despite the filesize, will wiibrickblocker v1.3 still open the file?

Have you tried burning an ISO with Nero set to RAW mode?
Have you tried to filechop the ISO to the correct Wii game size?
Actually, now I think about it, the Wii ISO created either by Rawdump or the SDGecko method may not be to the Internation Standards and therefore a different image to that created by burning programs.
Instead of using a burning program to recreate the ISO, try using Rawdump (not sure if it works on any drive with a backup as I don't use it) or SoftDev's Utility 0.1g to create the iso to a SD card.

You know, it does ask before running any update from a game disk. Assuming that these are games with updates (generally only first-party titles. super paper mario, metroid prime 3, super mario galaxy, smash bros. Most third party games are clean) when you put them in the wii they'll check for the update. I'm guessing you have a pal wii so if they're pal backups and you're already fully updated they wont ask to run any update. If they're ntsc then you're back where you started but it sounds like you arent even sure what region they are. You might be doing all this work for nothing.

i have fully updated wii
the metroid prime disc we have is pal itts the only one that has come out ok
but it still asks for an update
my friend who has never updated his wii to the current update plays this metroid prime no problem without it asking for an update
it a weird one at best

I don't think I can offer any more suggestions Joe... got me stumped.
However, if you have a modded Wii with Wiikey, the only thing i would suggest here is turn OFF the region free option with a config disc and when you put in a NTSC disc it wont be recognised in the game disc channel.
Therefore, you won't be able to play out of region discs which is what it sounds like what you orginally wanted.

Joe,
It is best to download the GameCube version of the Wiikey Configuration Disk v1.3. If you have a GC controller then select the one with controller, if not then select the one without the controller (and use the reset button to move and select).
Run the disc as a GameCube and it will have Wiikey Configuration v1.2 as the only option. Select that and it will take you to another menu when you can change the configuration of the WiiKey.
NOTE, it will not tell you the current settings of the chip as it runs in stealth mode. By default the menu loads with RegionFree OFF, navigate down to save settings and select.
This will turn off RegionFree for you Wii and you will not have to worry about bricking your console on NTSC games. They will not load in the disc channel.
All the best,
TheDigitalBear.
