When turning my xbox360 it just stays on a solid green light (can't be turned off), the player quarters don't all light up like normal and nothing appears on the screen. The power supply flickers between green and orange.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this? I'm happy to open the console as it's out of warranty anyway as its flashed (not sure what it's been flashed with as I did not do it myself).
Tried Googling but nothing helped, all meantion the RROD which I know how to fix! This is more like a GROD - great!
That sux man. Is it still within the year warranty? If not, I would cause it to RROD by and get it fixed that way. Kinda unethical doing it that way, but MS should have made a better manufactured product than the 360, I've had like 3 RROD 360s and sick of their shoddy made product.
No it's been opened and flashed, no way Microsoft would take it back.
It's not my original console as I own an Elite and never had a problem with it, I purchase faulty RROD 360s and repair them, keeps me out of mischief! This console was purchased second hand for my cousin, developed this fault..
Don't want to RROD is as this issue will just come back over time.
All 3 of my RRODs were opened and flashed and I was still sent refurbs each time back so just never know with that. Cool man, that's the way to do it, buying the RROD ones and getting them repaired, if not been registered. Look for Steimy or Bhetrick to answer your question.
Are you able to try and get an error code with the rings?
Could it be possible it's a 175w console and you're using a 203w power supply... or vice-versa? I don't know for certain if that would cause a problem or not, but it's something to consider.
Also, look close at the pins in the plug on the 360. It could be possible the previous owner used one of the earlier models of the Intercooler on it. See if you can see any brown on the pins.
Other than that, if the psu works with other 360s, I'd say it an internal problem with that 360 that only MS could fix.
I've only run into 1 problem with a psu. It was an Intek (from WalMart). The 360 was bought from a local used game store. It was a pretty new Premium, as it had the HDMI. The console seemed to work fine with the Intek, until a new Intercooler was put on. The Intercooler would not shut off even when the console was. Long story short, the problem was narrowed down to the Intek. The psu appeared to work fine, but obviously it wasn't and probally would have done something to the 360 in the future. The store did swap it out with another psu.
