The $600 US "economic stimulus" checks may help BluRay and the Hi-def market.

I agree, I see alot of the stimulus checks going towards electronics purchases, and im sure alot of those will be HDTVs and/or blu-ray players. I myself plan on putting my check towards a new tv and a blu-ray drive for my HTPC.

yeah im afraid alot of people will be putting their checks towards bills, rent, mortage payements etc. Thats why I don't think this stimulus plan will help the economy very much. The U.S. economy is in rough times right now and it looks to only get worse :(

Initally if they use the bills to pay down mortgages, debts etc. its bad for the economy as money isn't being cycled around.

However, in the long run this is probably a smarter thing to do as it frees up cash later for bigger purchases such as cars etc.

On the NPD topic, I won't be one of the two million. The only time I will buy Blu is when the price of burners and media come down so I can backup my movies.

Peace

Not on topic but my stimulus check will send me on a nice vacation to a beach in mexico while the dollar is still higher than the peso. On topic I agree that around $300 for a good machine and I would consider it.

I'm buying $600 worth of blu ray movies!!!! Well, maybe just $40....

My family will actually be getting a nice chunk of $$$ (wife and 2 kids), and It will be paying off our last credit card!! My taxes went up this year, gas prices are going to jump up, I have oil heat, the price of food is going to increase significantly. I don't want to have any more monthly payments for anything besides my car and mortgage.
