I'm having my wii modded with D2Ckey (due to availability). Apart from the fact that it isn't updateable, is there anything this chip can't do?

Well I have to say I've read of more problems running SSBB backup on the D2CKey than any other chip or so it seems. The original works fine for most and whilst it's not the only chip that seems to struggle it isn't updateable whilst others are so I'd say that has to be a pretty bad point at this stage - especially when the ppl behind D2CKey have actually superceded the chip themselves with the D2Pro which IS updateable. You have to ask why they would do that if D2CKey was fine in the first place? Personally I would describe D2CKey as a prototype and not the finished article. It is the last D2C chip you should install, with the Infectus 2, Argon, D2Pro and Wasabi all being superior.

I have a D2CKey installed in my system right now.
I have not had an issue playing any backups including SSBB.
I do also have a D2Pro which I will be swapping the D2CKey out for once I get my Wii-Clip for the D2Pro.
The main reason I am swapping is due to the fact of the upgrades.

Right now my D2CKey is working perfectly and I am very happy with its functionality but as I said, I do want the option to upgrade in case I ever need it.
I had purchased my D2Pro prior to my D2Ckey which is the only reason I have the D2Pro.

If I did not have this chip already, I think I would be purchasing an Argon chip.
I would avoid the Wasabi right now.
I have read of many bugs with it as well as the fact that the drive code has already been dumped so a clone will be on the way with more functionality (possibly external programmer updateable).

Yeah I would expect most ppl can play SSBB without a hassle - I only point out that there seems to be a high quota of D2CKey users among those that have problems. It's not a quantified point and shouldn't be read as such... just something I might be concerned with if it was a potential purchase for me.

From what I have been reading on other forums, the SSBB issue with the D2CKey seems to be more related to the media being used to burn the iso.
Most of the people reporting issues can run the disk on a system with a Wiikey but cannot run on a system with a D2CKey.
When they switch to another media type, they are able to run the disk on the D2CKey modded system.
So it seems that this issue has more to do with D2CKey being more finiky about which media is used for your backups. (I guess that can be considered a Con)
I myself have Memorex +RDL disks and am working fine.
Dont ask what country because I have no clue, I take my disks out of the original packaging and put them on a 100 DVD spindle so have no idea where any of my media was actually manufactured.

Thanks for your opinions!
I hope I won't have to change the chip soon (It is possible I presume...).
