Im about to get my new 360 flashed (Benq)and im wondering a few things. I have done a few searches but have had mostly mixed reactions to the questions.
- If I go on Live will it definitely ban me? What else happens if they detect it?
- If I get red rings after a while and my warranty is void because of the flashing, how much does it cost to fix?
- Ive read in a lot of places that people use Verb. discs, is this a must?
- When you play backups, are there certain types of backups you need to correspond to your chip/flash?
- Once flashed, can you turn it off/on? Or with a chip?
Im really new to all this so if you can answer any of those id really appreciate it. Thanks.
1. Chance are high you will be banned eventually.
2. A good modder will save your warranty sticker in case it is needed later.
3. Verbs cause the least problems, but you can ignor others warnings and use what you want.
4. You need 100% stealth backups to work with the newest firmware.
5. A flash can not be turned on and off. Only some mod chips.
So technically, if I was to have it flashed and never went online, then one day wanted to get rid of it (removed it somehow? possible?) and tried XBL again, would it recognize something had been changed? Id like to have my cake and eat it, but I would settle to just be able to play backups if it came down to it.
It's possible you may flash it, play on LIVE with backups, and never get banned. A lot of people are doing it now. One of my consoles is flashed and has been used on LIVE with backups on occasion. I just accept the fact that in the future MS may find a way to detect backups and ban consoles. So if the console gets banned, so be it.
I have another 360 which is unmodded, that I mainly use for LIVE.
To answer another one of your other questions, you can flash a console back to it's original state.
- If I go on Live will it definitely ban me? What else happens if they detect it? You do run the risk of being banned. Mny people play flashed consoles on XBL, but many have also been banned. The speculation is that making bad back up copies is the cause. And you can rest assured that some time in the future MS will find a way to detect a modded drive.
- If I get red rings after a while and my warranty is void because of the flashing, how much does it cost to fix?
I think it is between $70 & $140 US Dollars. I have heard a various range of prices. But if you take the time and learn how to open it without damaging the security sticker, You can flash it back to the original firmware, re-apply your warranty sticker, and send it in for free repair.
- Ive read in a lot of places that people use Verb. discs, is this a must?
No, it is not a must. But it is suggested you use them as they are one of the best. Which means they will work 99.9% of the time and will not harm your 360 laser like cheaper media with cheaper dye.
- When you play backups, are there certain types of backups you need to correspond to your chip/flash?
No, once you flash it any back up from your region will work.
- Once flashed, can you turn it off/on? Or with a chip?
No, you can not turn a flash on and off. this feature usually only comes on a chip. Not sure which one as i have never looked into it. This would only be good if you wanted to turn off the chip to play originals online. Plus i can tell you that on the old Xbox microsoft did eventually find a way to detect a chipped system and would ban you even if the chip was off when playing online.
All this could have been found within seconds with the use of a search bar. I think I saw this post word for word somewhere else here on the form. O well at least these fellas are nice enough to repeat themselfs day after day. If you ask me flashing the system is worth playing the backups and the money you save overtime will out weigh the amount of a new 360
