X-CLAMP FIX ON RROD 360

During past week I got rrod twice (even after doing towel trick)
1st time it lasted about 10 hrs of playing time & 2nd time little less, I won't do it 3rd time unless I wish to say good-bye to it for good.
In any case, I jnw want to try x-clamp fix, how reliable is this fix & is it something permenant or it's only temp fix.
Have red some posts to rrod came back after 2-3 weeks even after doing x-clamp fix.
Any comments/suggestions.

Im guessing if your doing all this that its out of warranty. Anywho the xclamp seems to be one of the better ways to fix RROD but nothing will keep it away for good. It always comes back. Maybe not that same week or month but it will.

Just do some searches. There are several methods for fixing the RROD problem. Some are more involved then others (like replacing thermal paste and sticking pennies under some pads along with the X-Clamp fix).

The towel trick is not a fix. Someone was dumb enough to try it and it worked for them. but i can tell you that it never lasts. It is like having something that does not work well and smashing it with your fist. Sure it may start working again but not for long.

Tks for your quick reply.
It may still be under warranty since I bought it new Dec 2006 but
it's been opened already as I hacked the firmware so I can
play back-up as well, so even the extended 3 year MS is offering it's out the window & there is no way that I'm going to send them my hacked 360 as I'm sure I will not see it back ever.
I have no other choice, do xclamp & hope I can get few hundred hrs out of it. Am I being realistic (300-400 hrs)?

I'd just send it back and flash the one they send you back. It's 99% of the time (from my experience) going to be a BenQ drive sent back in the refurb.

warranty sticker/label which shows "Void if removed" has been removed, so I doubt it if they will replace it besides I have sata cables sticking from the back (made some small holes) so I can flash it if necessary without opening entire box.

ya, the request was for you, but you can buy a replacement shell from ebay for like 10 bucks, and can get a warranty sticker from ebay for around 20. not to bad to get a new 360 out of it.
