How can I find out which model of Wii I am buying when I am in the store?

I just wanted to know, when I buy my Wii which will be soon, have to wait for shipment of them. How can I find out if the wii has cut legs or not. I heard the one with none cut legs is easyer to mod. Is there any versions you cant mod? I looked up wiikey, and know how to put it in, but it doesnt work with all models.

I just dont want to buy one when it is not able to be modded or is just really hard (btw the sodering part will be easy since my father is a pro at that) Just need to find good instructions.

Thanks
Rob

You have to know the S/N.

Considering that there is typically no "old stock" Wiis, you can pretty much assume that your Wii will be the latest chipset.

I stopped keeping track after I determined that my Wii had cut pins.

ok, so if its cut pins, what mod chip is good, and is it super hard to mod? I heard alot of people complaining about the non cut pins but it looks simple to me. Did you mod your wii? and was it hard?

I chose not to do my own.

There are people out there who do this for a living and are quite good at it.

Although I have the equipment and experience that would probably allow me to do it, I did not want to risk a $300.00+ investment on doing a "one off".

Remember that if something catastrophic were to happen, your Wiis warranty would be void. I'm sure that your Dad could do it, but if you're going to spend this much money on a modded Wii, wouldn't you want to make sure that it's done right?

Bottom line... you ain't gonna get a choice about what Wii you want. It'll be D2C right now and that's it. Cut legs=N/A on your case.

You'll need a D2C compatible chip i.e Infectus 2, Argon, Waaabi or D2Pro. If your dad is a pro at soldering and checking joints then tell him you want an Infectus 2 putting in. ;)

His soldering skills are good. I have to reseach how to do the cut pins now, but I found this... are they usin a normal wiikey... for a cut pin chipset.

you don't get it. yours won't have cut pins, it will have a D2C chip which means you can't use a wiikey, get a D2Pro or Argon.

yeah. you wouldn't want a wii with cut legs anyways, they'er a pain to mod. you need a modchip to work with a D2C chip.
