Okay, maybe you should at least search for some answers first. Half of your questions can't be answered with out knowing some extra information.

Some of the newer ones (Wasabi, Infectus2, Argon) have some pretty impressive features. Do a search for them if you want to know all the features and how to install.

do i need DVD+R DL media or does DVD+R work fine(for wii games)?
Most games are DVD5, however, newer games (SSBB in particular) are DVD9, so you will need DL discs for those.

is they're a no-soldiering required modchip?
No, but you can get a no-solder clip (wiiclip) that you can use with some of the mod chips I stated above.

is they're a softmod available?
As of now, no. However, there is a hacked game save (search: Twilight Hack) so there may be one soon.

will updates brick my console?
As long as you keep your updates from the same region you should be fine.

am here until i get answers!!

am sorry if im a N00b pls go easy:)

I would suggest you getting Wiikey.
It's a very common chip. I use the chip and I haven't had any problems with it. My backups of my games run perfectly!

Doh - ignore this. You can't just bang a wiikey into any Wii. You need to ID the Wii chipset first.

Also seriously - read some threads in this section - your questions are asked everyday and the "best wii modchip" has been answered over and over.... You don't even have to search. Browsing the last 2/3 pages of posts would give you many answers.

There is a 45% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2B
and a 55% chance that it is a GC2R-D2A.

so is this accurate? can i crack open my wii and find out for myself?

ID=identify and the tracker site gave you some idea what you have - that is D2A or D2B basically.

no - the clue is in the D2A and D2B which means you don't have D2C ... as in D2CKey

Nah that's not true - I don't mind helping noobs but only if they try and help themselves more ;)

wiikey yes -
no solder with it - you need your own solder and iron etc.
no you can't just bang it in and play, it has to be updated and configured
yes you can update your wii with the wiikey in but you need to be careful of bricking with out of region games.

It's not metal...it's solder.

You need a 15w soldering iron
Soldering Flux
30AWG wire
60/40 solder
Desoldering Braid
Electrical Tape
Soldering Iron holder w/ sponge

That's pretty much it I think. But if you have not had any prior soldering experience then send it to a professional instead. DO NOT do it yourself if you do not know what you are doing unless you want to spend much more than you would want to.

Errr no they are not the same. Google each one to see.

Yes you can hot glue the chip down. I just apply double-sided tape on the bottom of the chip to secure it down and then cover it with Electrical Tape.

Soldering Flux
30AWG wire
60/40 solder

flux is no longer needed unless your soldering with a heavy alloy, for modding you just need rosin core (light should be fine, its labeled as PC alloy in radio shack, in short rosin core is...well...pre-fluxed would be the term) you dont really need to worry about the mixture of elements, just make sure you pickup the one labeled as a PC alloy type:D

Desoldering Braid

like NDarkness said this is a must, and a quick solder is nothing to difficult:) practice a few time with a block of wood or even a bread board if you gots one

in addition to the braid you may want to get this
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....rentPage=family
it has your baby pencil soldering iron and your rosin core included, although you may want to buy another spool of rosin core as it may not come with enough:)
