I am going to open my xbox 360 elite soon to find out my dvd drive firmware.I have made my own kit for opening it up and am stuck on what skinny tool I should use for the sides so I can poke the holes out and pull out the side vents. The black color makes it hard to locate them.
I was just asking for any advice people have so they can post them here...For those of you saying go google search it, I have already. and I know what Im dealing with as of how to take the vents apart. The problem is locating them.Ive seen diagrams, pictures and more but not on the Elites. This question might sound dumb, but I just had to ask this.
If you know anything please reply. Thanks

A paper clip will work. Or unscrew a ink pen and use the ink cylinder if you're desperate. Heck, you can even go outside and bust a small branch off a tree. Those tabs come off easily. On the side where the hdd attaches, pop out the back rubber foot. There will be a hole to unlock that tab.

Thanks for letting me know.On the hdd,I know you have to remove the bottom left black pad on the bottom of the 360,but Im wondering if you remove that all you have to do is remove the remaining tabs?If thats it,itll be quick.

If you got a Dollar Store around you, you can run in and pick up a cheap precision screwdriver set. A small flat one works great. That's what I use to use until I got a free unlocking tool when I ordered a case for my 360. Those unlocking tools look cheap but they really do work great.

Unless you're opening alot of 360s, I wouldn't bother buying one of the tools. I just happened to get a free one when I ordered a case.

I know,I said that Ill use my home tools.I saw more guides now and know how to do it.The only two things I can do with my 360 are installing a WhisperMax fan and A fan duct thats transparent.Installing a new case is a bit of a challenge.Ill keep my own tools.I need to get on Amazon and start ordering fan tune ups.Itll look so cool.I want that whisper max and Arora light kit.Ill still get them if I cant flash my 360 if it has v79.Either way Ill just stick with my homemade tools.Im not bying anything.Only fans like a whispermax and a fan duct and light kit for the side vents. If I just crack that case open...It will be great. My 360 will look better. These are my measures Im taking as a user who has read enough guides.By the way can we end this thread here because I have some
more I replied to and have to keep up.sorry I just keep getting Afteredawn reminders in my inbox andkeep having to unsubscribe and dont want to leave unfinished.Lets end after your reply.
to make things easier-I wont buy an XCM opening tool.Ill use my own ones. Thanks for all your help again for the 2nd? 3rd time?idk
