I will be getting a pre-modded wii in a couple of days, and have been reading about the problems of a modded wii.
Most of the information I had read was really confusing, and I still couldn't figure out some of the questions I had, so if its no problem can someone please answer these questions:
1. To play a copied game, do I have to update my firmware, or can I play the game without updating my firmware.
2. If I really do have to upgrade my firmware, then will it completely brick my wii.
3. I bought some copied games, and I do not know if it will brick my wii as some of them are PAL and my wii was bought in the US.
4. Can a copied game upgrade my firmware, and thus brick my wii.
5. What is a full-proof way of never bricking a wii.
Thanks a lot in advance, and I'm sorry if some of these questions have been asked before, but I couldn't find out the answers by reading some of the other threads that have been posted before.
1. depends on the game but some games contain an update regardless of the firmware.
2. if you update on line no.
3. out of region games can brick your wii.
4. out of region games can brick your wii.
5. Don't update with any out of region game.
There's a thread actually dedicated to avoiding bricking. You should read that and asked any questions there tbh.
So, if I update my firmware using the online feature, then my wii will NOT brick, right? But the wii will brick if I update my wii using a game disc.
Also, you said that playing out of region games can brick a wii. But i thought I read that modded wiis CAN play out of region games. If playing an out of region game does brick a wii, then is there a way to avoid that.
Is there a way to find out if an out of region game will brick the wii.
