Hello, I have quite a few original Xbox backups that I made from my original games around a year or a year and half ago, I also have an Xbox 360 with Hitachi 59 drive flashed with iXtreme 1.3 firmware and would like to know if there's any firmware out there that will allow me to play those backups (the ones that work with Xbox 360 anyways) on the 360? they were all burned to be played with my modded Xbox so they were ISOs and not in the .dvd and .iso or .img format 360 games are at...is there any firmware capable of this? I heard of certain firmwares supporting single layer DVD-r so you wouldn't have to use dual layer DVDs for original Xbox backups, but do they have to be burned in the .dvd and .iso or .img format? or just the normal ISO format?
Oh ok, thanks. Would changing to a Samsung drive help? are they as good as the Hitachi ones? because my launch 360 3 months later back in 2006 cracked 2 discs (360 games) almost in half and it had a Samsung drive...after that MS gave me a new one which I still have today working perfectly and it has an Hitachi 59 drive.

It depends. You would need the Samsung to play the single layered discs, but then it'd have to be spoofed as a Hitachi and you'd have to flash it with older firmware. And if you use the older firmware, it'd be highly recommended not to use LIVE anymore (if you do now).
Plus, some of the methods used back in the day to backup Xbox games may cause the discs to be no good with the 360. If the default.xbe file was changed during backup, it'll be no good on the 360.
You can download a program called Xbefix to check your backups. If the .xbe is no good, the program will try to fix it. Sometimes it can and sometimes it won't.
You'd have to rip your backup back on to your pc, then extract the default.xbe with WX360. Then run the .xbe though Xbefix. If it's good, then your disc is fine. If it's fixed, then you'd inject it back into your .iso with WX360 and have to reburn the .iso.
And after all that and you end up with a good single layer backup, it still may not work on your 360. Even if you have the Backwards Compatability program on your 360 hard drive, some games still need a seperate update via LIVE to work with the 360. And if you access LIVE with that single layer game, you're guaranteed to either be banned right away or to be flagged to be banned.
Single layered backups don't contain the security info necessary for safe use on the 360 with LIVE.
Honestly, it'd be so much easier to just rerip your originals with Xbox Backup Creator and burn them to a dual layer.
