OMG im freaking out here...and it really blows

my situation is this...i bought my wii about a month ago in Hong Kong from some shop who sold me a modded wii which was great I played a whole buncha fake games with great satisfaction till mario galaxy came out which required me to update...well i disregarded that cause i didnt really wanna play it anyways well my friends bought me a real version of SSBB NTSC US version (my WII is NTSC..a modded US version)I really want to update it and play it but i have absolutely no idea where to begin or how to do it... I've read a lot of forums and have come up with no solution... I live in australia now so there is no chance of me to go to the shop and ask him what kind of chip it is...

I've considered opening the wii but dont have the tiny little fckin screw drivers they need plus i am too scared to open it and fck it up..

what i do know is that my Wii version at the moment is 3.1U and that it is a G2C-D2C according to WIItracker...can anyone help me please...I am at a deadend..and want to break my damn wii...

OK - Retail original SSBB USA should safely run on your USA console regardless of the chip if it's a D2C Wii which is what the tracker indicates.

You prolly have a D2CKey in there - if so it does not require updates.

If you put the CD in it should update your system and away you go.

For any SSBB problems see the stickied thread and ask Qs there.

Ok, you need to calm down. So long as you play games from the same region as your wii theres no chance of messing it up. Just let the updates run and stop crying. Theres a million forum posts saying the same thing.

sorry i was a bit frustrated...so I most likely have a d2ckey? when I put the game in it asks me to update..and it states that if I have a modded wii the wii might die or watever so are you saying I should just run the update and it should be fine?

He will be in a bind, having a NTSC will purchased in HK that is containing USA firmware living in Australia.

He cannot exactly go down the road here and purchase NTSC games retail.

As such, I would be very careful updating your console. Ensure you use only NTSC games for this purpose or do it online.

Also use WiiBrickBlocker on any ISO you download or borrow to remove the update section.

well at the moment for some reason my modded wii cant seem to play PAL games..so the question still stands do i ahve a d2ckey? and should i just click update when that little message comes out..I'm sorry for not posting in the ssbb forum...i'm a total noob when it comes to all this brick breaker etc. but at the moment i havnt downloaded any games that required me to upgrade... all i have is this retail US version of SSBB that asks me to upgrade my 3.1u wii.. to 3.2...

Well if your question is about SSBB then you shouldnt have to worry. So long as its a US copy of brawl or any other game you can update just fine on your US wii.

And the thing the update says about the updating hurting something if the wii is modded is a lie. Nintendo is just trying to scare people into not modding with the update message. As of right now no update can detect modchips. That may change in the future but for now you dont need to worry about it.

And I'm not sure why pal games dont work. I havent installed any D2Ckeys, did they have an optional wire for region override? To be honost though you might be better off with region override off. If you can only play games from your console's home region then you dont have to worry about bricking it.
