I bought god of war and final fantasy but i can't play them because my firmware is 3.71 and i need to upgrade to a higher one. And the battery won't charge. When i put in the battery the orange light just flashes and i have to have my charger in to turn it on. Is there any way to skip the battery check.

There is a way to skip it. However, i dont remember. I think u have the hold L or R and pressing square or somethin ..
