Hi,
I just bought a modded Wii (yaosm/ninja)...
system firmware is still at 2.2u ...
it's a first generation Wii...

I don't know much about Wii/just getting into it.
is it smart to upgrade or not?
can i rent and copy games? if yes what's a good software for copy/burn Wii games?

If you know nothing about it then you shouldn't have bought it tbh. I'd get it updated online to 3.2 and then think about changing the modchip because ultimately you will struggle to get support and update for something that isn't so widely used or even discussed these days - but some guys here might be able to get you sorted ...fingers crossed. You might get away with a fair bit using your current chip but I think with the Wii being at 2.2, the chip prolly needs updating as well and I wouldn't know where to start.

There are plenty of stickies in this section about copying games and other important topics. I suggest you go read some of those to help you understand what you have and what you need to do to get the best out of and safeguard your Wii.
