I just bought a PSP-SLIM with firmware 3.80.
I want to run downloaded ISO's on my PSP. Well i'm a complete noob in modding the PSP. Could someone please help me out and explain all that i have to do to install custom firmware and run isos?
I looked around the forums and some of my major doubts are-

1.Do i really need to hard-mod my battery or is there a soft-mod alternative available? How do i create this modded Pandora's battery?
2. How do i create a Magic Memory Stick? Is it really needed?
3. Do i need another Phat PSP to install custom firmware?

It would really help if someone could give me information in detail or the links. :)

Okay, to start things off, yes you will unfortunately need to hard mode the battery. However, if you are not comfortable doing that you can buy a pre-hard modded one of ebay. they usually run for about 40 dollars.

Now you also will have to make a magic memory stick. There are many ways to do this however, seeing as you are new to the proccess i'm going to show you the easiest way to do so.

First download this application:

http://dl.qj.net/TOTALNewbi-easyInstalle...14749/catid/193

Its called the, Total Newbie Easy installer. It literally walks you through the entire proccess of making a memory stick.

Once the file is downloaded, extract the files. Than open the folder and there should be a bunch of stuff inside. click on the application file and it should start to run the program.

At this point all you will have to do is follow the steps in the program. like I said it will tell you exactly what to do.

-once it has finsihed creating the magic memory stick(and your hard modded battery) turn your PSP off

-once your psp is off put the memory stick in.

-than put the hard modded battery in

-than after a few seconds press X to start the installer for M33

-you will not see anything on the screen so don't panic lol

-You will know that it is installing because the wifi and the memory stick lights will be flickering alot.

-When it is done the whole thing will shut down. at this point you are good to go. jsut put your ISOs in the /ISO folder and enjoy!

Let me know if you have any issues !

Okau, well there really is only one way to mod a battery. what you're basically doing is removing one of the pins from the circut board. here is a link to a page with the modding instructions...

http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-hardwar...ut-fat-psp.html

If you're going to attempt to mod the battery, please proceed with *caution* as you can very easily short circut it.

ex hoc: i wife just bought me this psp slim 3.8 for my birthday. Thanks for your tutorial! Though it was quite scary at times everything worked without a hitch! No screen but hitting the X button allowed everything to complete as normal. I used the Datel Tool Battery for my operation. Im now running the m33 firmware!

Thanks for your help!
