are you refering to the m33-1,m33-2 etc or the recovery menu list or add on applications ?

They simply denote patches to the firmware: As OE followed the pattern OE-A, OE-B, OE-C etc. M33 follows the pattern of M33, M33-2, M33-3 etc.

All patches are cumulative, meaning you only have to install the latest patch, say you're on 3.71 M33 then you can install 3.71 M33-4 straight away without going through the other patches.
