whats going on? i have just installed Ubuntu Linux on to my PS3 using a "Live CD". i would like to know if there is a way to install some emulators on my PS3 using Linux? help would be Much appreciated!

i have a 40gig system.
has anyone ran a ps2 emulator in linux and got it to work?
if so i'm going to have to upgrade my HD...

the issue isnt the systems power. Its the coding in linux. Your "beat up xbox" has had much more time to have applications developed for it.
..... and the PS3 supports PS1 AND PS2 games without linux... google it first next time maybe.

Oh the words of the foolish ignorant are funny, for one thing my ps3 plays ps3 games and your smack talking it because on its sub operating system it cant play a psone game which it can play simply by downloading one off of the PS-store? If it kills you to do any research atleast open your eyes for god sakes.

Hey Einstein do you even know the colour of the PS3?
Well...let'a say that it isn't white and doesnt wearing any red rings.
A little tip
At least we don't pay to log in to PSN and enjoy all the goodies.
Alternative:
We don't pay Bi11 Gate$ to play online.

as we stated before ..... you can play PS2 games from the xmb. Im not a history major, but im fairly sure that is PAST n64. If thats not good enough for you, then you have 2 choices...
1. Code a linux emulator for systems "past n64"
or
2. STFU and fire up your beat up xbox

But seriously, okthen12 is right, the PS3 can emulate any console, but we cant right now because the RSX is restricted in Linux.

Any way, it cant emulate past N64 yet, its good that it can emulate anything at the moment since it isnt even hacked yet.
People may cuss the PS3 but how long did it take the Wii and Xbox to be hacked? The ps3 still hasnt been hacked, Which shows that sony learned something from the PSP.
Personally, Id rather the ps3 be hacked to run homebrew and ps1 and ps2 backups, I wouldnt really want PS3 backups. You'd need a blu-ray burner for a kick off, which I havnt checked but I bet the cost alot of money, then you need blank Blu-ray discs.
Any way back on topic, Halo wont come to PS3, since its made by bungie that make microsoft exclusive games dont they?
I wouldnt really buy Halo anyway, COD4 is a better FPS, IMO. Id rather we get Ace Combat 6, Project Gotham etc. than Halo.

Hahahhaha Oh yeah dammit. I was reading that post, then this one, and got confused with the replys, Sorry! :D
Forget all that Halo crap.
What I meant to say was.
There arnt really many emulators right now, since the RSX is unnacessable in Linux, we cant use its power to aid in Emulators and stuff. So you may say its pathetic but what your forgetting is that its not fully hacked. IF, the PS3 is ever fully hacked like the PSP is, then we could expect to see PS1 and PS2 Emulators, maybe even an Xbox Emulator!
Really, Id love an emulator for PS1, PS2, Gamecube, GBA, DS (somehow), N64 and SNES.
But really I doubt the PS3 will be hacked anytime soon, or even ever. I get less and less interested when I see a topic about it being hacked as it always ends up as fake.
Sorry about that post mixup, never happend before.

EDIT* Speaking of Emulators, are all the PS3 Emulators only available through Linux? Mine has a green picture and I cant really use it like that so it would be good if there was an ELF file that could be burned to a CD or DVD and booted by XMB, but I suppose thats kinda homebrew, so I dont think it would work that way yet.
