NTSC PS2 games on PAL PS3?

I have a PAL 60GB PS3, but I want to get MGS:EC Edition to play on it.
But since its only been released in the US Id have to get it from there, so it'd be in NTSC format.
So, could I play these NTSC games on my PAL PS3?
I know PS3 games are region free, but im not sure if its the same case with the PS2 games.
Also a question about the game. Is the MGS2 and MGS3 in this set the Subsistance and Substance versions?

No it wont work unfortunately since the PS2 games are region encoded.
